Jack Glover singled and
Pearson sent him onwards when
he sacrificed. Baynham, who was
hitting everything but other
play ens Tuesday night, bunt
singled Pearson home to put the
Royals hack in command at 4-3.
Poplar Hill tenaciously came
hack, when they tied the score
again at the bottom of the seventh
forcing, the extra innings.
Atter a runless eighth inning,
Baynham and Bourne combined
again to put in the winning run.
Baynham singled and then
proceeded to steal second setting
up the winning run which came
when Bourne knocked his third
hit out into center field singling
himself and driving in Baynham.

third in wet
track meet
The Exeter Royals started
their second season in fastball
action in a winning style, eking
out a 5-4 squeaker over Poplar
Hill on Barry Baynham's
winning run in the ninth inning.
Although the score indicated a
closely contested match, the
Royals dominated most of the
play, with 12 hits compared to
Poplar Hillis five. Baynham and
Terry Bourne led the Royals with
three hits apiece.
Brian Hodgins carried the
Royals the whole distance,
fanning ten hatters. Poplar Hill
started out on the arm of Ron
Daniels, but replaced him with
Roger McQueen.
Poplar Hill hit the scoreboard
first, when Hodgins walked
McQueen, setting up the opening
run. McQueen scored on a single
driven by Paul Basey.
The score remained 1-0 until
the top of the third inning when
the Royals exploded for three
runs.
Paul McKnight lit the fuse of
the explosion when he doubled.
Doug Pearson reached first when
an error was committed in the
Poplar Hill field and the stage
was set for the Royals to take a
lead they would never relinquish.
Baynham came up and_ rapped
a single, followed by two more
hitters, Bourne and Andy
Bierling, both of whom corn-
nected foF singles. The slew of
hitting sent McKnight, Pearson
and Baynham home for the three
runs.
Poplar Hill managed a tie
again by the end of the sixth
inning, but it was shortlived when

The Exeter Centennial Soccer
Club has made minor changes to
the teams they will be fielding
this year, dropping a Squirt
division team and adding an
Atom team.
The changes came about after
it was discovered a majority of
the players who comprised the
Squirt team were older than
allowed, having been eight-years-
old before December 31, 1975,
This forced the making of a new
Atom team to take up the
players.
The club is also looking for a
perinanent coach for the Cen-
tennials, the senior club, Anyone
interested should contact Damion
Solomon at 235-2358.
