Women's Institute hear talk
Parkhill personals .on plants from local retailer

The May meeting of Grand
Bend Women's Institute was held
last Thursday night, in the town
hall with around 75 in attendance,
President, Mrs. Nola Taylor
welcomed all and opened with a
poem, "He who plants a seed,
plants hope and trust,"
Convener of Horticulture, Mrs.
Ed Gill, introduced the guest
speaker, Farmer Bill Rammeloo,
his wife Melva and their son Eric,
He spoke on plant care aspects of
watering, light, rest periods,
temperature, and when to repot.
He demontrated the correct way
to start a terrarium and pruning
of plants, Many plants were on
display, which the ladies bought.
Mrs, Alec Hamilton thanked Mr.
Ramineloo and lunch was served
at the close of the meeting.
A busload of Parkhill residents
spent the weekend in Wheeling
West Virginia.
There were about 40
passengers who stayed at the
Downtowner Motel about 100
yards from the "Capital MuSie
Hall" where they attended
"Jamboree U.S.A."
Sunday they journeyed to
Akron Ohio, and the Rex Hum-
bard Service in the Cathedral of
To-Morrow. Humbard, men-
tioned the bus loads from
Parkhill and Brampton, Ontario.
Coming home the tour ran into
heavy rains and were greeted by
a snow storm. All in all it was a
successful trip, Thanks to Don
and Helen Waters for arranging
the tour.
& Mrs. Gerald Charlton,
Jim and Wayne, Mr. & Mrs.
Rayburn Steeper and Kim spent
Sunday on a trip to the northern
region.
The pupils of Mr. Richard
Kettle presented their fourth
guitar recital in the United
Church last Sunday.
Connie Charlton spent the
weekend with Mr. & Mrs. George
Charlton.
Sympathy goes to the family of
Mrs. Maybelle Patterson who
was buried Tuesday in Parkhill
Cemetery.
The Froman's held a successful
Lawn sale last Sunday.
Erwin Holt and his family, Diane,
Donald, Debbie and Robert.
Mr. & Mrs, Percy Smith,
Braeside, have returned to
Grand Bend, after spending the
winter in Panama City, Florida.
Larry McCracken of Hawaii,
visited Sunday with Rev. & Mrs.
John Campbell, Laura-Lee and
Douglas, Mr. McCracken had
been soloist at the Campbell's
wedding, and on Sunday morning
was guest soloist at Church of
God when he sang, "The-King is
coming."
A Praise service was held
Sunday evening at Church of God
with guests from the Church of
God of London. The German
Church of God from Kitchener
provided a musical variety
program which included an in-
strumental group, choir, solos,
trio and duet.

Eber Lewis of London spent the
weekend with his sister, Mr,
Mrs. Alec Hamilton. On Sunday
Mr, & Mrs, Leonard Wein of
Crediton joined them for a family
dinner,
Rev, and Mrs. Harold Dobson.
of Dungannon visited Thursday
afternoon with Mr. & Mrs.
Weliwood
Mr. & Mrs. Bill White and
Nancy of Sarnia, visited Satur-
day with their aunt, Mrs. Art
rinkbeiner.
Special speaker at the morning
service of the United Church was
Mr, Larry Gillians of Scar-
borough, who is a representative
of the Alcohol and Drug concern,
The .1, choir anthem was, "My
Praybr."
Elgin Adams accompanied by
Mr, & Mrs, Leslie Adams of
Exeter visited Monday in Lon-
don, with Mr. & Mrs, Leonard
Patterson and Mrs. Betty
Adams.

Sarnia' are building a mew home
on the farm they recently pur-
chased from Wayne's father,
Gordon Ratz, and hope to move
her early in the summer with
their son Jeffrey.
Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Ratz, at-
tended the Golden wedding an-
niversary of their friends, Mr. &
Mrs, Gordon Hayter, of Pontiac,
Michigan, formerly of Varna, at
Hully. Gully, on Saturday
evening.
Mr. & Mrs. Tony Ansems and
family of Parkhill visited
Saturday. evening with Mr, &
Mrs. Gus Van Massenhoven and
family,
Mr. & Mrs. Roy Morenz,
Glenda and Tammy, attended a
family gathering dinner, on
Sunday, at Wellesley, honoring
Mrs, Morenz' father, William
Cook, who was celebrating his 85
birthday.

Monday with her mother Mrs.
Lawrence Johnson, Mr. Johnson
is presently driving a charter bus
trip to California.

Sixteen members of the Church
of God attended a Missions
Convention, Saturday in the
London Church of God. Speaker
was Rev. John Williams of
Niagara Palls, New York, and he
showed slides of mission areas in
South America.
A family dinner was held
Sunday at Mrs, Lawrence
Johnson's home, in honor of her
mother's Mrs. Mae Holt's, 84th

The Grand Bend 4-Il club
"Steady Stitchers", held their
meeting Monday at Mrs. J,
Smeeken's home,
Roll call was answered by
telling "The one purpose of a
french knot."
At this meeting they received
ikJheir title page for the Record
which was designed by
Ellen Van Leeuwen.
Plans were discussed for their
achievement day skit, coming up
on May 22.
The leaders, Mrs. J. Smeekens
and Mrs. A. Walper. , demon-
strated applique at this meeting,
Home assignment was to
complete free choice article and
report on it,
Next meeting is at Mrs. A.
Walper's home.
