The Friendly Neighbors en-
tertained the Lucan "Sunshine
Club" and the "Busy Bodies"
Mr. & Mrs. Austin Hobbs en-
tertained their family for dinner
on Sunday, May 2.
Bride elect gets
April showers!
followed by the singing of the
hymn "From Ocean Unto Ocean.
Mrs. Barry Jeffery read a
poem "Why God Made Mothers"
and also different verses front the
Bible pertaining to Mothers, and
a reading "Hug Me First Mom"
followed with prayer.
The Topic "Haire You Ever
Been Lonely" was given by Mrs.
Snow, "Life Is Lonely" by Mrs.
Archie Etherington, "Leadership
Is Lonely" by Mrs. Roweliffe.
The hymn "Faith of Our
Fathers" followed with the of-
fering and prayer by Mrs.
Etherington.
Mrs. Glen Stewart opened the
business part of the meeting with
two poems "Ilow Can I Know It's
Spring and "Throw Out The
Rubbish."
Minutes, roll call, cards of
thanks and treasurers report
were given . It was decided to
send the bale to the Indian
Reserve at Southampton. It was
decided to bringa tea towel at the
June meeting for roll call.
The prices for the Strawberry
Supper were set at Adults $3.50
and children 12 and under $1.50.
The meeting closed with the
singing of "Breathe On Me
Breath of God."
Mrs. Stewart closed with
prayer.

fleboard as so many card tables
had to be put up.

a musical program, and lunch,

"Two little chicks" completed
the program, the remainder of
the afternoon was spent in the
enjoyment of cards, shuffleboard
and crokinole.

The Family Day Service will be
a combined service on Sunday
May 9 at 11:15 a.m. There will be
no Sunday School but the
Medway Euchre Club
The Medway Euchre Club met
at the home of Mr, & Mrs. Elmer
Summers April 26. Prize winners
were the following members:

While there they experienced
the tail end of a tornado, for-
tunately no one was hurt and all
were able to return home safely.

ningham is a patient in St.
Joseph's hospital, London to
undergo surgery Thursday. We

The Happy Gang met at the
United Church April 28. Mrs.

Crippled Children's Fund. Mrs.

Rev. Mary Mills was in charge of
the morning service. The new
Testament lesson for the next

Great Family Ride
a real success
Forty nine children, ladies &
men joined the Lucan Great
Family Ride for Cancer on May
2. All but a few made the 14 miles
round trip, congratulations to all
for your effort on behalf of
Cancer Research.

Tea at the home of Mrs. Jaek

Between the proceeds from the
draw on paintings donated by
Mrs. Jean Jervis and the tea, a
goodly sum was realized for the
Canadian Cancer Society
Research Fund.

The UCW Regional Rally of the
London Conference held at
Siloam Education Centre April 28
was well attended by Granton
residents.
The theme of the meeting was
"How much do we care."

At their regular monthly
Council meeting, Hay township
accepted the sand cushion tender
of James Adams, RR 2 Bluevale
at $1.08 per cubic yard out of
three tenders received. They also
passed a motion not to par-
„,ticipate in construction costs of
Exeter's proposed recreation
complex. In other business,
approval in principle was given
to the Elgin Hendrick sub-
division in part of lot 24, con-
cession Lake RoadW. Threedrain
application loans for a total of
$49,500.00 were passed, and three
applications under the Shore Line
Property Assistant Act were
approved. The next meeting of
Hay Township Council will be
held on June 7 at 8:00 p.m.
