Smeekens home. Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Adams and Mrs. Susie Devine visited Saturday in Port Huron with Mrs. Loretta Williams & Mrs. Marie Tetreau. They then stopped in Wyoming and spent the weekend with the Adam's daughter and family Mr. & Mrs, Don Hendrick Pam & Paul. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence ,Johnson returned Saturday from a 10 day trip to Florida in the Palmetto area, Jim Kennedy who is attending York University, Toronto, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. & Mrs, Clarke Kennedy. Mr. & Mrs. Roy Flear returned last Monday, after a three month Florida holiday. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Glen Miller on the birth of a baby daughter last weekend, a first granddaughter for Mrs. Olive Miller. Ross Desjardine is a patient at St. Joseph's hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Thomson returned home last Tuesday after a three month, Florida, holiday. Mr. & Mrs. Louie Walker of Pontiac, Michigan, spent the weekend at their daughter's home, Rev, and Mrs. John Campbell, Laura Lee and Douglas, Mary Yeo has returned home to Grand Bend after spending the winter in Detroit, with her sister- in-law, Mrs. George Yeo. Food Forum Mrs. Ed Turnbull, Mrs. Nola Taylor, Mrs. Ed Gill attended the Food Forum, on More about Nutrition, held at Clinton Secondary school Tuesday evening. Dashwood W.I. will entertain at Bluewater rest home By MRS. IRVIN RADER DASH WOOD The Directors and Nominating committee, Mrs. Mildred Kellerman, Mrs. Ralph Weber and Mrs, V.L. Becker were in charge of the annual meeting of Dashwood WI. Roll call was answered by paying dues. Mrs. Ray Rader, president, dealt with the business. The Institute will entertain at the Bluewater rest home in May, It was decided to ask for a short course in creative stitchery or needlepoint for beginners. Mrs. Ray Rader and Mrs. Gordon Bender had , attended an executive meeting at Hensall in the afternoon and Mrs, Bender gave a report. Mrs. Ray Rader will attend the conference at Waterloo in May representing the district. The Fall Rally will be in Dashwood. The District Annual will be in Crediton May 20. The last men's club supper will be held in April. Reports were heard from the secretary and all conveners. Mrs. Syd Baker presided for the election of officers - president, Mrs. Ray Rader; 2nd vice-president, Mrs. I. Rader; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Eben Weigand; assistant, Mrs, Howard Datars; district director, Mrs. Gordon Bender; alternate, Mrs. Syd Baker; directors and nominating committee, Mrs. V.L. Becker, Mrs. Ralph Weber and Mrs. Mildred , Kellerman; Tweedsmuir curator, Mrs, Irvin Rader; resolutions, Mrs. Hilda Rader; pianist, Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan; Public Relations officer, Mrs. I. Rader; auditors, Mrs. Harry Hoffman and Mrs, Letta Taylor. Following the business the ladies sat down to a delicious lunch and opened gifts from their secret pals. Names of new secret pals were drawn. 4-H meeting Club no, 3 of Dashwood 4-H girls held their first meeting March 30. This club is "A Touch of Stitchery", Officers elected were president, Susan Zielman; vice-president, Maine Hendrick. A new secretary will be elected each week. Mrs. Maxine Miller read and demonstrated the color wheel, Discussion was on the contents of the girls' workboxes and types of materials. The second meeting was April 7, They were divided into two groups Marjorie Green in- structed one and Mrs. Miller the other. The girls were told how to cut materials and straighten. Patterns were traced on material and the girls learned the back stitch with every one having their turn, Ladies'Aid Mrs, Lorne Genttner, vice- president of Zion Lutheran Ladies' Aid conducted a brief business meeting following the morning service. Twenty ladies were present. The card secretary reported 6 cards sent out. The Altar Guild reported 20 visits with 8 treats and two phone calls. The new Guild is Mrs. Hilda Rader and Mrs. Frieda Keller. A mother and daughter pot luck supper will be held in May with group 3 in charge. The secretary was told to order tickets for Charlie's Aunt at the Huron Country Playhouse. Baptism Robert David Luther, infant son of Larry and Carol Luther of RR 1, Dashwood, received the sacrament of baptism Sunday at St. Marys Church, Grand Bend, Sponsors were Cathy and John Taylor of Hensall. Those at- tending were Alfonse and Betty Grenier, Joanne Grenier Joe Bengough and Mrs, Antonette Bengough, Hensall; Richard and Rose Rader and Pammy, Goderich; Don and Shirley Wamsley and Barb; Norma and Linda Camp, London; John and Cathy Taylor and Christopher of Hensall. 4-H meeting Dashwood no, 2 club held their 6th meeting with 14 girls an- swering the roll call "An idea for your club Achievement Day presentation". Stitches for the "Free Choice" article were discussed. The French Knot and how to Applique were taught. The girls then ' surprised Elizabeth Datars, Jayne Hayter, Sandra Schroeder and Sherrie Stade with a birthday cake and ice cream, Miscellaneous Shower Carol McCarthy, Nancy Rader and Madeline Ziller were hostesses for a miscellaneous shower for Sharon Masse Sun- day, April il. at Dashwood community centre. She was recipient of Many lovely gifts. Some 05 relatives and friends were present at which a mock wedding was performed. Persona Is Charles Martene, who recently retired from the Big 0 Drain Tile Co. Ltd. Hensall was feted Saturday evening at the Pine Ridge Chalet. Present were the employees and wives and boss, Murray Wood. Charles was presented with a gift. Mr. & Mrs. Dave Rader ac- companied Mr. & Mrs. Jim Patterson of Grand Bend to Toronto, Friday, April 9th where they attended the Home Show. Miss Susan Whittier, Toronto, spent the weekend with her grandmother Mrs. Hilda Wein. Mr, & Mrs. Earl Vandahl and son, Earl, Montreal, spent 'the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Hayter and family. They are also visiting with their relatives in the area.
