They enjoyed beautiful weather visiting Disney World, Buseheand CypressGardens and other places of interest. Arletta Hess, Emma Schilbe, Margaret Pfaff, all of Zurich; Hilda Rader and Beulah Desjardine attended a birthday dinner for Martha Miller at the home of Frieda Keller, Monday. Following the dinner a hymn sing and games were enjoyed. A good time was had by all. Mrs. Jim Patterson and Sarah, Grand Bend, were Tuesday visitors with Mrs, Irvin Rader. and Mr. & Mrs. Dave Rader and Stacey. Mr. & Mrs. Paul Morrison and Jennifer, Varna, were Sunday visitors with Rev. & Mrs. Bruce Guy. Richard Hayter and friend, Toronto, spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Bob Hayter and boys. Susan and Chris Baynham, Oshawa, spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Koehler. Mr, & Mrs. Don Bender, Terry and Tim have returned home following a two week vacation in By MRS. IRVIN RADER Dashwood 4-11 girls club No, 11 held their 4th meeting, March 31, at the Community Centre with 14 girls answering the roll call "Show design ideas for free choice article". Some designs were animals, flowers, birds and trees. The couching outline and the couching cross stitch were demonstrated. The leaders discussed design and color. The 5th meeting was held April 5. The roll call was "What have you decided to make for your free choice article?" The members answered with pillow cases, purses, wall hangings and pic- tures for framing. The leaders discussed the historical outline of embroidery. The sheaf filler stitch, the satin stitch and how to make a twisted cord were taught. Plans for Achievement Day were made. The next meeting is April 12. LLL Rally Twenty-two members of Zion Lutheran church attended the Spring Rally of the Lutheran Laymen's League at Grace Lutheran church, Mitchell, Sunday. Guest speaker, Rev. G. McDonald led the group in discussion on what it means to be alive in Christ, By MRS. FRED BOWDEN Fourteen tables were in play at the euchre party in the Com- munity Centre Monday night with Mr. & Mrs, Lawrence Hirtzel and Mr. & Mrs. Chas. Hollings in charge. Prize winners were, ladies high, Mrs. Georgina Webster; lone hands, Mrs. Torn Kooy; low, Mrs. Otto Darling. Men's high, Percy Noels; lone hands, Tom Yearley; low, Murray Carter. Desta Rock was the winner of the travelling prize. Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Lamport and Mrs. Clarke Fisher will convene the next party. Personals Senior Citizens met in the Community Centre Monday for an afternoon of crokinole and cards followed by lunch. Murray Abbott who returned home last week after spending the winter at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Abbott in California is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Dick Neil and Robert Snell have returned from Victoria Hospital and are recuperating at their respective homes. Mrs. Teresa Bedour and Cathy of Goderich spent the weekend with Mrs. V. Overholt and family. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel were, Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Bill Hirtzel in Exeter. It was a birthday celebration for Kathy and. Heather Hirtzel. Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Hicks who were returning to their home in Toronto following a vacation in Florida were overnight guests, Monday, at the home of Mrs. Lorne Hicks. Marikay Hodgins of London spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ken Hodgins and Sunday visitors were Mr. & Mrs. Keith Hodgins and family of Georgetown. Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins returned home on Saturday after a three month's stay in Mexico where the weather was really warm. On the way home they visited in California with their niece and nephew, Mr. & Mrs. Steve Caldier and family; in Mesa, Arizona, with Mrs. Walter Nickles; with their nephew Darrel Fralick in Colorado and with Mrs. Hodgins sister, Miss Ada Mitchell in Montpelier, Ohio. They enjoyed a trip to Disney Land while in California, visited the Grand Canyon in Arizona and the Afpen Ski Resort in Colorado. Before completing the trip home they called on Mrs. Harold Mitchell in West Lorne and were overnight visitors on Friday with their daughter and son-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Don Pickering of Hyde Park. Granton area women attend Cancer Society meeting Assiting the hostess were Mrs. Hobbs and Mrs. Hodgins, "Happy Gang" meet The Happy Gang met in the United Church basement March 31. Mrs. Harold Westman opened the meeting with the 'Happy Gang' theme song, then gave an informal talk on All Fool's Day, April 1, how it originated etc., asking any of the members if they had any experiences that they would like to share. Rev. Mary McInally)who'was-on the program, recited the poem "St Peter at the Gate or 30 years with a Shrew." The rest of the afternoon was spent playing cards, shuffleboard and Crokinole. Members with March brithdays and having their names on the birthday cake were: Lizzie Crockett, Mary Bowman, Edith Westman and Harold Westman. Lunch was served by Rev. Mclnally and Mrs. Glen Jameson. C. Hahn. Attendants were Bob and Gloria Hayter, Dashwood, and Susan and Chris Baynham, Oshawa. A reception was held at Dash- wood Community Centre. Out of town guests included Mrs. Jean Nagel, mother of the groom, Bev Nagel, his sister and Dan Nagel, brother; Mrs. R. Remmlinger, his great aunt all of Toleda, Ohio; Mr. & Mrs. Sonny Jacobs, Erie, Mich, Other guests included friends from Toleda, Ohio, Toronto, London, Kitchener and surrounding area. Men's Club Dashwood Men's Club held their monthly dinner meeting March 29 at Dashwood Com- munity Centre with the W.I. catering to it. It was Father and Son night and some 86 sat down. Following dinner both dads and boys enjoyed a western movie. Personals Mrs. Jean Walper has returned to her home here following surgery at University hospital, London, and a stay with her sister and family, Mr. & Mrs. Stan Slezak, London. Miss Almeda Miller, a resident of Huronview and formerly of Dashwood underwent surgery in Clinton hospital last week. Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader were Mr. & Mrs. Fred Miller and girls, Zion, Mary Mclnally conducted the service, her sermon was the fifth in the Lenten Series and was entitled "Judas Iscariot was there". She said Judas was a thief, a traitor,and in betraying Jesus with a kiss he sold himself, not Christ, for 30 pieces of silver. She stated God can help us to learn the lesson of Judas before we become the the victim of our own wrong choices. At St. Thomas Anglican Church, Rev. Mary Mills, of- ficiated at the morning service and took her sermon for Passion Sunday from Mark, the message dealt with Christ's conversation with the multitude and His disciples on the way to Jerusalem. April Fool supper A successful April Fool supper was held in the Church Hall Thursday evening followed by progressive euchre, prizes were 'won by the following: ladies high, Mrs. Heber Davis; lonehands, Mrs. Harold (Pete) Wallis; men high, Harry Carroll; lone hands, Peter Van Leishout. The quilt draw was won by Mrs. Robert Gleason of Lakeside. By MRS. E. SUMMERS Several ladies from Granton attended the campaign launching meeting of the Cancer Society (Lucan-Biddulph branch) Wednesday evening at the Lucan Public School. The theme for this year's campaign is "You Are Making the Difference", the door to door canvass starts on April 5, Also a new venture this year will be the Great Family Ride April 25 pledge cards can be obtained from any member of the executive of the Society. A Tapestry picture, donated by Mrs. George (Jean) Jarvis of Lucan will be drawn for at the Daffodil Tea held at the home of Mrs. Jack Murdy of Main St., Lucan April 28. CG IT & Explorer news The CGIT are busy working on a craft article for the Bazaar that will be held in the fall, they also attended a Rally with their leaders at Colbourne United Church. The explorers are working on a gift for their mothers for Mother's Day. Scout & Cub news These two groups are very busy rehearsing for their Variety Show, working on crafts, earning badges & training for camp. The Cubs are making Easter gifts. Beal Secondary School Saturday night. Mrs. Harold Hodgson and her daughter, Mrs. Jack Harrigan, have returned from a vacation in Florida. Mrs. Alec Crockett spent a few days with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Langford and Linda. Mr. & Mrs. Warren Gregory have returned home after spending the winter in Florida, Get well wishes are extended to Mrs. Nelson (Jessie) Bilyea who is a patient in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, and to Mrs. Wm. (Mavis) Knapman who has had a long stay in hospital. Keith Summers of Toronto spent the weekend with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Summers. 4-H Club news The 5th meeting of the "Tangled Threads" was held March 27 at the home of Mrs. Joe French. Each member was allotted:one book cover to work on. Suggestions were made for the skit for Achievement Day, other ideas were to be considered at the next meeting. Leader Mrs. French gave a talk on the history of embroidery and the girls were instructed on how to do the satin, sheaf filler and the twisted rope stiches. Both leaders, Mrs. French and Mrs. O'Shea, gave the girls assistance with any problems that came up while they Were working on the sample patterns.
