Merchants, Colonials tied at
two apiece in SHHL final
The Exeter Waxers were
winners in the "A" championship
of the Grand Bend Legion novice
tournament played in Zurich over
the weekend. A team from Grand
Bend was victorious in gaining
the "13" championship.
Ironically, there were two
Waxer teams entered in the
tournament and they ended up
playing against one another in
the "A" championship finale.

The first organizational
meeting for Crediton Minor
Baseball was held April 8, with
the election of an executive being
the major outcome.
Ray Brooks has been named
president for the coming season,
with Frank Mclsaac, vice-
president, Don Finkheiner,
secretary and Eleanor Roeszler
as treasurer.
Four teams from Crediton will
be entered in the Pee Wee,
Bantam, Midget and Juvenile
sectors of the Western Ontario
Athletic Association ball league.
Registration will be held over
two days, April 24 and May 1
from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
3-0 win over their cohorts, it was
decided by tournament director,
Gord Brown, that both Waxer
teams should be named cham-
pions of the "A" tournament.
Trevor Johnson netted two goals
for the "A" team with Gary
MacDonald adding another. Scott
Lovie was in the nets and earned
the shutout.
Exeter's "B" team advanced
to the finals by posting wins
against Thedford and Zurich,
The "A" team won two earlier
games against Goderich and
Blyth.
Grand Bend started out shakily
by losing one to Blyth, 6 to 0.
Grand Bend then made a
comeback on Saturday by posting
a win against Goderich, 2 to 1 in
overtime. In the final, Grand
Bend defeated a lackluster
Bayfield squad by a lopsided
score of 9 to 1.
After the semifinal games on
Saturday, one player from each
team was selected as the most
valuable. Chris Tiedeman, in-
strumental in gaining an over-
time victory for Grand Bend, was
selected for his team, while Mike
Bedard was chosen for Zurich.
Steve Gould, who scored a hat
trick on Saturday against Blyth,
was selected as top player for the

co-champion "B" team.

have stayed there, as the second
period, with the Merchants

and Paul Maguire scored for the
Colonials, with Mike Chalmers
and Rob Tholman scoring for the
Merchants in the first.

in the third period, Jim Guenther
picked up the fourth Colonial goal
to finalize the score at 7-4.
The Merchants led throughout
the fourth game, taking 1-0, 2-1
and 3-2 leads. Bob Barkman,
Rapp and Chalmers accounted
for the early Parkhill scoring,
with a goal apiece in each period.
Guenther scored for the

Larry Laye paced the Colonials
in their victory, scoring five of
their seven goals. He popped in
the winner just past the 11:00
mark of the third period when the
two teams were tied at six apiece.
Parkhill lept into an early three
goal lead, when they banged

The Colonials were not to be

Paul Maguire came back to tie
the score before the end of the

Dear Editor:
We would like to inform you
and your readers that a Centre to
investigate and study the
phenomenon of Unidentified
Flying Objects (UFOs) has
recently been established in
Toronto.
An independent private
Canadian group, the UFO
Research Centre, Ontario will
seriously and scientifically study
the complex and controversial
UFO enigma. The Centre will
operate as a standing committee
of the Toronto Society for
Psychical Research, set up in
1970 as a federally registered not-
for-profit institution.
The Centre aims to be a place
to which individuals can report
UFO sightings or experiences
without fear of ridicule, and with
