An estimated 1,500 people attended the benefit held last weekend at the Pineridge Chalet, Hensall. As in the past, bands, snowmobile events, a special pancake and sausage breakfast, "mooseburgers," team and sleigh rides, and "Timmy" combined to make the weekend fun with a serious purpose. All money collected will be donated to Bunny Bundle, a rund- raising campaign to help crippled children. Bill Brady, CFPL announcer and principal organizer of Bunny Bundle was present Sunday to cook pancakes. Beer says the exact amount raised by the benefit won't be known until the bills have been paid but adds that the amount will be announced and delivered promptly to the "Bunny bundle" fund, "The rain hurt attendance a bit," Beer says, "We sold 887 pancake breakfasts this year. That's down 150 from last year." Besides the rain, events like Eddie Shack day, Seaforth; Kirkton Winter Carnival, and snowmobile races at Hully Gully hurt attendance in Hensall, Beer adds. "Mooseburgers" were also popular at the Chalet and sold well all weekend. Bill Brady presented a plaque to Ellwood Epps ,who has donated the moose meat for the special weekend since it started. This will be the last year Epps makes the donation because of an eye problem that makes it im- possible for him to continue hunting. The benefit was kicked off Friday night with a dance. Joe Overholt and the Standbys — as did the other bands — provided free entertainment. Saturday there was a "poker run" race, snowmobiling and entertainment by a country folk band called "You and me." Saturday night Overholt- performed again for a crowd of people who like to dance. Sunday the pancake and sausage breakfast, a variety of events and an appearance by the 1976 "Timmy" with crippled children in attendance, brought the weekend to a contented close. Beer says he is pleased with the attendance and plans to hold the weekend to help crippled children again next year. He's already booked the bands and set the date. Whalen personals By MRS.
