The Marching Mothers tried
something just a little different
this year to augment their
collection for the March of
Dimes.
This was an old fashioned Box
Social which proved to be suc-
cessful.
The attendance was good at the
Foresters Hall on Saturday night
Valentine's Day. The first part of
the evening was spent playing
cards.
When it came time to auction
off the decorated lunch boxes,
Mrs., William Thomson was
picked to be the auctioneer, and
did an excellent job.
Some of the boxes went for as
high as $10.00 and over which
resulted in the sum of $173,00
being realized.
Ali When expenses have been
defrayed it will leave a sub-
stantial sum to be added to the
$147.70 already collected in the
door to door canvass.
Mrs. Thomson received a
flower basket made of hand
crocheted lace containing ar-
tificial flowers, for her assistance
as auctioneer.
Mrs. Jim Harding also
received a similar basket as a
door prize.
Mr. Wm. Bannerman was a
lucky draw winner. Credit for the
success of this undertaking goes
to Captain Mrs. Marion Gricken,

Once again the auditorium of
the East Williams Public School
accommodated a completely
captivated audience while the
grade a, 4 and 5 students

From the three grades, a total

held during school hours on
Tuesday to bring the number of
competitors down to fifteen,

Dear Mrs. Hendrick:
I read your article "The
Drama of Old Lake Huron" and
thought I would write to tell you
how much I enjoyed it. Since
coming to the area to establish
the Playhouse in 1972, I grow
more and more fascinated by the
area's rich history. You probably
know also a great deal about the
rural school on the B-Line next
door to the Summer Playhouse.
Maybe you would share some
more memories with us. We are
presently building a house where
the old school house stood and
have often wondered about it.
Anyway, thanks for your in-
teresting article.
sincerely, yours
