Police report 20 accidents
Automobile accidents kept
officers at the Lucan OPP
detachment extremely busy
during the past week.
Forty-eight vehicles were
involved in a total of 20 collisions.
Eleven persons received minor
injuries and damages have been
estimated at $23,435.
Dangerous driving conditions
caused by blowing snow has been
slated as the cause of most of the
accidents.
An accident just south of
Whalens corners on Highway 23
blocked the road for more than
three hours. The cars initially
involved in the mishap were
driven by Gus Konstantarogianis
of Owen Sound and William
Murphy of Sarnia,
Approximately five minutes
later a car driven by Robert
Trimble struck the first vehicle.
No injuries were reported
although it took considerable
time to clear the scene.
In other police activity con-
stable B. D. Munro checked a
vehicle in London township and
discovered opened liquor. A
London resident has been
charged in connection with this
incident.
A Biddulph township resident
reported losing a box containing
various tools somewhere along
Highway Four between Con-
cession 15 London township and
Elginfield.
An Essex resident lost his
watch on Highway.Four north of
Clandeboye when he stopped to
assist a stranded motorist.
Both articles are reported to be
valuable and police officers ask
anyone who locates them to
contact the Lucan detachment
immediately.
Another person reported losing
a wallet in Lucan over the
weekend. It contained a con-
siderable amount of money as
well as valuable personal papers.

Three new members of Session
were installed as Elders at the
morning service at Lucan United
Church, Ed Melanson, Henry
Kaune and Ron Burr. They were
presented by Clerk of the Session,
Bob Murray, installed by Rev.
Ewart Madden and welcomed by
the other members of Session.
Next Sunday the newly elected
members of the Committee of
Stewards will be installed during
the service.
Mr, Madden, speaking from
First Timothy, told the
congregation that elders have
been in existence since the time
of Paul and have responsibility
for the spiritual welfare and
direction of the congregation.
This does not mean perfection on
the part of the elders, or that they
are shining examples but through
God's help and forgiveness they
have come to a better un-
derstanding of His love and
compassion and have the desire
to share this understanding with
others, Paul told Timothy to train
himself like an athelete for the

It was my pleasure to attend a
two day Public Relations
Seminar held at our Provincial
Legion Headquarters. Toronto,
over last weekend. Most District
P.R.O.s were present and it is
hoped. when these dedicated
gentlemen return to their
respective Districts they will hold
like seminars from District
through to Zone level. I was
delighted indeed to have been
able to take an active part in the
program and our Provincial
Public Relations Chairman
Comrade Charles Moon of
Chatham is to be congratulated
for the excellent agenda, film and
material supplied. Comrades we
had experts in the field of public
relations in the person of news
paper editors etc. Meetings such
as these cannot help but assist the.
Royal Canadian Legion in getting
our message of service through to
the people of our great Nation.
The pot of gold continues to
grow and by this Saturday night
should be worth around $150.00 —
All that is necessary to win
Comrades is to personally place
your name in the register
provided.
Comrades and friends your
ways and means chairman has
been working hard trying to come
up with ideas for your en-
tertainment and you want to
believe me when I tell you he has
a couple of dandies coming up —
never fear when the time is right
we will let you all in on what's
taking place — just be ready for
it.
