A tractor trailer unit driven by Helmuth Goertz, Conestoga and a vehicle driven by Leo Murray, RR 2, Dublin collided Thursday morning at 10:25 Lin. at Elginfield. Constable G.J. Barker listed damages at $750. At 8:30 p.m. Thursday on High- way 4, a quarter mile north. of Concession 12 in London township a vehicle driven by Andrew Geddes, London left the roadway and struck a fence causing damages of $335. Conkable N.A. Campble investigated. Marty Van Praef, RR 2, London suffered minor injuries Sunday evening at 7:05 p.m. when the snowmobile he was operating was in collision with a vehicle driven by James Rum- mell, London. Constable Camp- bell estimated damages at $140. Vehicles driven -by David Stoddart and Ella Brown, both of London collided Sunday night at 9:15 p.m. on Highbury Avenue, a half mile south of Concession 16 in London township. Constable Campbell listed damages at $2,150. The first occurred Sunday, December 19 at 4:40 a.m. on Francis street in Lucan when a vehicle driven by Ben Harrigan, RR 3, Lucan struck a hydro pole. Constable W.T. Hodgins listed damages at $1,300. Monday at 4;05 p.m, on Con- cession 7 of West Missouri township, a half mile reel) of County Road 28, a pickim truck driven by Paul Walsh, RR 2, Thorndale was struck by a farm tractor operated by Allan Arthur, RR 4, St. Marys. Munro estimated damages at $500 when vehicles driven by Owen Bice and Mervin Jones, both of Ailsa Craig collided on Highway 7, near the WI makes presentation The Lucan Women's Institute held their annual Christmas smorgasbord luncheon and ex- change of gifts Wednesday, in the Masonic Hall. A letter was read from Mrs. H.S. Hebden, a former member, expressing thanks for the kind remembrances and good fellowship from the members. A presentation was made to Mrs, Ewart Madden, Convener for Citizenship and World Affairs, prior to her leaving, with her husband and family, to take up residence in Union. Mrs. Lillian Ashton, president, numbered the various members, and as the gifts had pre viously been numbered, it was lot dif- ficult to distribute them Instead of the usual miscellaneous program presented by various members, nearly everyone attended the program at the Shillelagh by the Mollie Maguires. Ewart Madden led in Christmas Prayers and read the Christmas Story from Luke. Special guests were members of the Clandeboye Choir who sang "What Child is This", ac- companied by their leader Miss Debbie Lynn. "The Friendly Mrs. Rupert Williams and Sandra Schwanke attended a Christmas party at the Komoka Nursing Home and visited with their father and grandfather Mr. Lorne Derbyshire who is a patient there. At time of writing, Mrs. Russell Blake is quite ill at her home. Holy Communion was celebrated at the United Church Sunday with Rev. Madden in charge of the service. The Madden's leave this week for their new charge at Sparta- Union. Mr. Madden's meditation in- volved the children and was entitled "The Groups at the Manger". He asked the children to tell him what groups or in- dividuals were involved in the Bethlehem Story including the Shepherds, Wisemen, Mary and Joseph, Simeon and Anna•and the bad King Herod. He spoke briefly of each group and how they were involved. He said that as our lives are com- mitted to Jesus we become victorious over sin, The Lucan Senior Choir, under the direction of Ray Koopmdn sang an arrangement of "Silent Night" and "The Huron Carol" and Mrs. A. Jones sang a solo "0 Come Immanuel". SELL CALENDARS The C.G.I.T, members an- nounce that there are a few 1977 U.C. and Anglican calendars left. Sorry folks these are not our rules but ones we must abide by, Monday night, December 20, the Executive met with a large representation of interested parents in Branch 540's Minor Hockey Program and it was the decision of all in attendance that a Minor Hockey Committee be formed made up of about seven interested parents plus two reps from the Legion. It was also decided to hold a further meeting at 8 p.ni. January 10, 1977 to finalize the formation of the proposed committee.
