MR. AND MRS. HARRY VanBERGEN

wedding for Elly Lansbergen and Harry VanBergen. The Rev. Harold
Snell officiated and the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. William
Lansbergen witnessed the ceremony. The couple will reside in Ex-

Named as director
of home economics
R, Gordon Bennett, of the
Ministry of Agriculture and
Food, announced today the ap-
pointment of Molly McGhee as
director of the ministry's Home
Economics Branch.
Ms. McGhee is a present direc-
tor of home economics and
associate principal of the Cen-
tralia College of Agricultural
Technology.
Ms. McGhee replaces Helen •
McKercher, who retired after
serving 20 years with the
Ministry, the last 16 years as
director of the Home Economics
Branch.
Mr. Bennett praised the length
of service of Ms. McKercher.
"She made a tremendous con-
tribution in home economics and
to agriculture in this province,"
said Mr. Bennett.
Ms. McGhee is a graduate of
the University of Ottawa, with a
B. Sc. in nutrition and a M. Ed. in
educational psychology. She has
also received a B.A. in general
psychology from McGill Univer-
sity.
Before joining the Ontario
government in 1967, as director
of home economics at the Cen-
tralia School of Agriculture, she
was a dietitian at the Brockville
General Hospital, the Ottawa
Civic Hospital and the Smiths
Falls Ontario Hospital School. •

held Wednesday

The annual Christmas concert
was held Wednesday evening in.
the church with a goal at "
tendance.
Alan Hern Sunday School
superintendent, was chairman
for the program. Piano numbers
were given by Brenda, Charlotte
and Karen Miller, Jeff Miller,
Lisa Hern, Joan Hern and Susan
Jaques; readings by Arlene
Johnson and Cheryl Tookey.
The Christmas story was read
by Brenda Miller and Betty
Johnson with members of the
Primary and Intermediate
classes taking part.
The Primary class played a
rhythm band and presented the
Wooden soldiers on parade a skit,
"It's a gift" by the intermediate
girls followed by numbers by the
junior and senior Bible classes.

Exeter, celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary on Friday,
December 17 with a family
dinner at the Crediton Com-
munity Centre. A dance followed,
Mrs. Swartz was the former
Lilly King. The couple was
married do December 21, 1926 by
Rev, Edward S. Hiscocks.
They farmed on Lot 17, Con-
cession 8 of Stephen township
until moving to their present
home in Exeter. They have one
daughter Mrs. Albert (Lois)
Ryall, Ilderton.

Christmas Eve Candlelight
Communion Service was held at
St. Mary's Church Brinsley,
Friday. Pupils of McGillivray
Central School presented two
operettas of their Christmas
Concert Monday, evening,
December 20. The presentation of
Grade 4, 5 and 6 was called "The
Choir Boy Who Couldn't Sing"
and the one presented by Grade 7
and 8 was called "A Song For
Christmas".
