"Hold it" I shouted then asked "Santa, what is this all about?" By PAT HODGERT Usborne Central When l went to bed one night quite near Christmas, I thought about what I was going to do the following day. I was going to walk to the woods and spend a whole day out there in the wilderness. Finally I dozed off in a sound sleep. The next day, I started out for the woods, just as I had planned. When I got to the edge, I heard a lot of racket. I crept slowly towards the middle only to see my Christmas television fans, in a quarrel! I stood up and asked them "What are you all quarreling about?" They all stood up and started "Well" Santa said "I don't want to go down those chimneys every Christmas, I lose sleep over it, and my working elves do not want to make toys for those selfish little children, but my deer here, they want to get out and run around for once in a year and that's Christmas you know. Mrs. Santa and Frosty, they love those little kids out there and they want me to go, Mr, Scrooge and Mr. Grind' Want to take over my job and take away all the presents, and I agreed and that's what started all of this, "Well" I said "Let me show you all something." I led them over to the edge of the woods, where all the forest animals were. "Why," exclaimed Mrs. Santa "Theyre all crying, the poor things!" "Yes they are, and do you know why?" I asked. "No" they said simply, "Well, they over heard you all and they all love those children as much as you do, Mrs. Santa. They love those children because they saved them from getting killed, cured when they were sick, kept them from catching colds, and many more things such as that. Those children have given love and kindness just to make you happy, They all leave cookies and oranges for you a your reindeer don't they? "Well, yes they do" Sa said weakly. "Now" I asked " the rest of yo Shepherd Boy By GORDON LIGHTFOOT Special Education. Stephen Central I am a shepherd boy. One night I was sleeping beside the fire with the shepherds. Then a big light shone down. We were scared. We saw angels who told us to go to the star; We found Baby Jesus. Christmas Is Here Christmas By JOHN VAN ESBROECK Grade 6 Precious Blood School Christmas is the time of year When everyone is full of cheer See the lights that shine so bright Through the day and in the night Many children will go and sing As they hear the sleigh bells ring. Though many people do forget They just might remember yet. And in the early, early morn They remember Christ was born. By BARB DOWN Grade 8 Usborne Central Christmas is here, Christmas is here Let voices shout this message clear Hurry, decorate your Christmas tree While children dance around it, full of glee. Unwrapping presents comes on the 25th. A day no one wants to miss Christmas is also a day of love As we think of you, above. Jimmy's Christmas Dream By BARBARA WILSON Grade 7 J,A.D. McCurdy It was a cozy night of Christmas Eve and the fireplace burning brightly. And all through the house no one was stirring not even little Jimmy who was five years old. Jimmy ,didn't really know what Christmas was all about except about Santa Claus, Christmas trees and presents. He was all nestled in his bed and dreamed happy dreams until morning. But this one wasn't so happy. It was twelve o'clock when Santa came driving up in a, it sure wasn't a sleigh and reindeer, it was a 1976 Cadillac. If this wasn't strange. But Santa came in the front door instead of the chimney, and was wearing a black leather coat and black pants and he sure wasn't fat he was slim. Usually Santa Claus gives the presents. But not this year. He was taking away the presents that were under the Christmas tree and he was taking the tree away. Jimmy didn't like this. Jimmy didn't usually remember his dreams but this one he did. Jimmy didn't really know the difference between real life and a dream, So Jimm walked quietly downstairs for not to wake his parents to .see that Santa didn't take his tree and presents. Just then around the corner at the bottom of the stairs there was a jolly big fellow. Peaking around the corner trying not to let Santa Claus see him to see what he was doing. He was singing a jolly song as he spread presents under the tree. Jimmy gave a sigh of relief and turned around to go back up the stairs. But just when Jimmy started his way up the stairs he heard aloud ho hp! Jimmy smiled and went back to bed with his little secret. 0 OU hat about no presents made, stealing C ristmases, and no one to deliver the presents?" "I don't want to steal Christmas now," said the Scrooge. "Good" I said "Now all you have to think about now is the Christ child and he will help and love you always." "Always?" asked Blitzen. "Always" I said. all the joys and blessings of this glorious holiday season ... e tradition we treasure. Merry Christmas. ance of ide interest thanks, patrons.
