Canada Works is a new job creation program that
will be launched in January.
This newyear-round program is deigned to
get needed work done by people not employed•in the
private sector.
Canada Works will accept applications from groups
and organizations including private businesses
who wish to develop, sponsor and administer worth-
%while community projects. Funds will mainly be
.allocated to areas of high unemployment and projects
will be tailored to special 'eMployment needs of your
local community/ ,
Canada Works will generate employment fOr more
than 60,000 Canadians who are,presently unemployed.
Applications will be considered twice a year- in
Winter and,Surnme.;
Think about your projects now! Early in the new year,
your local'Canada Manpower Centre will have appli-
cation forms and a Canada Works "Guide to:Applicants,'
with full'detaili on the prOgrgm, Can'ada Works fo"
' your CoMMunity. Make your woahwhOe projects \.ork
neXt year!
A second programs for students.Young Canada
Works will create jobs on more than 20,000
students next summer The emphasis will be on pro-
jects of solid community value. It has many of the 1\
same features as the year-round program, except
projects wilt be limited to 14 weeks during the
summer months.
At the same time, Young'Canada Works will enable
sti.idents to gain valuable work experience and test
their career aspirations.

briefly; the Rader sisters,
Barbara, Carol and Brenda
played instrumentals; Mona
Hodgins tap danced. Mrs. Ross
Love led in carol singing.
Tickets were sold on a ham
donated by Merner's with Mrs.
Maggie Nadiger the winner., The
local stores donated, namely,
Chandlers, oranges; Schatz,
candy; Boyles, grapes; Tiemans,
a gift, Mrs. Lloyd Radar also
donated a gift. Harry Hoffman
thanked all who took part.
There was a white elephant
exchange. The seniors are invited
to Maplewoods, Zurich,
December 23 for a Christmas
program and gift exchange. The
program closed with "Silent
Night".
Dancing followed to the music
of the Music Makers with Earl
Stebbins calling for square
dancing.
