The Lucan-Ilderton Jets
continue to hold down second
place in the Ontario Hockey
Association Continental Senior
standings four points behind the
first place London Kings.
The Jets have won 13 contests
while losing four and tying one
for 27 points while ,London has 15
victories, five losses and also one
draw, London has played three
games more than the Jets.
This week the L-I club trounced
the Port Stanley Canadians 11.3
Wednesday and eked out a 7-6
decision over the Stratford
Perths Friday in sudden-death
overtime.
The Jets were at home to
Preston last night, Wednesday
and will now be idle until Wed-
nesday December 29 when they
play host to the London Kings at
the Ilderton arena.
Win quickly in overtime
The Jets needed only 23
seconds of sudden-death over-
time to sink the Stratford
Perths Friday night.
The winning play started with
ex-pro defenceman Jack Chip-
chase hitting Rick Fifield with a
pass near centre ice and Fifield
broke in on a two-on-one break
with Randy Roth and the latter
took the pass and made no
mistake in putting the puck into
the Stratford net with a couple of
shifty moves.
Stratford moved into a 2-0 lead
at the end of the first period on
successful shots by Dan Morris
and Terry Warboys. The latter
stole the puck on a Jets power
play and beat Rob Kellestine in
the L-I nets.
Scoring came thick and fast in
the second period with the Jets
scoring four times but the Perths
tallied three goals to hang onto a
narrow 5-4 edge on the
scoreboard.
Bill Bannerman notched the
first Jets goal as he poked in a
loose puck on a play started by
Ed Parkinson and Ken McCut-
cheon at 3.29.
After John McLean scored for
Stratford Rick Fifield registered
on a three-way effort with Doug
Galloway and Randy Roth.
The Perths then came to life
and by the 16.43 mark had moved
ahead 5-2 on goals by Graham
Snider and Jim Betts.

and Ken Milson.

this week in Ontario Hockey
Association Junior D play but
continue to holddown first place.

five losses and a pair of ties good
for 28 points. The Mitchell Hawks
are in the runner-up spot with 26
points but have one ganie in
hand.

club gave Exeter a helping hand
Sunday night by edging Mitchell
4-3.
The Exeter Hawks were in
Thamesford last night, Wed-
nesday and will then take a
holiday until Sunday, January 2
when they will take on the Port
