Grand Bend developer Don
Southcott this week charged
Grand Bend council with "a
breach of courtesy" in discussing
matters, pursuant to Southcott
Pines development when he was
out of town,
He noted in his letter to council
that on September 12 he had
asked that when matters af-
fecting Southcott Pines are on the
agenda of couneil, the firm would
like to be extended the courtesy
of being notified in advance in
order that they could offer in-
formation and background which
could prove helpful in any such
discussion,
"As with any individual or
firm, we are concerned when
major discussions take place in •
notincil...without any indication
to us that the topic is on your
agenda," he said in that Sep-
tember 12 letter.
Southcott said in his letter of

December 11 that he had
received no written reply to his
previous letter, but he did receive
verbal assurance from the reeve
(Bob Sharen) that council would
attempt to notify the firm when
such matters arose.
"In relation to press reports in
local newspapers of December 9,
that assurance has not been
met," he continued. He was
remarking on the discussion held
with residents of Green Acres on
Southcott Pines planned
development of the Sherwood
property,
The former newspaper editor
said that while he had told council
that Southcott Pines were
prepared to discuss the Sherwood
marina proposal in every detail,
he felt it was premature until
they learned from the senior
governments whether the marina
proposal is acceptable.
"The obvious point was that
council would be foolish to waste
its time—or anyone else's time
for that matter—in reviewing the
proposal when the project itself
may not be possible. Surely this is
a responsible and sincere position
for any reasonable person to
take".
He went on to say that "it
appears not only incredible but
virtually dishonest to read
comments that suggested thatour
firm not only did not respond to
council's request, but further,
that our response was not
mentioned during the discussions
on the proposal":
His letter continued: "I also
must suggest, in fairness, that
council's action has been grossly
unfair to the residents of Green
Acres in that you have
deliberately or inadvertently
misrepresented our presentation
to you. If you review the
correspondence, you should find
that I forwarded, out of courtesy
to you, a copy of our application
to the various senior govern-
meets to determine if the
proposal made by our architect
Was acceptable, You appear to
have interpreted our submission
'as a firm intention on our part to

Resort people busy
The Christmas Ecumenical
meeting was held Thursday night
at the Church of God with around
60 in attendance.

McGregor presided. During the
worship service all repeated in
unison, "Unto us a child is born"
and Mrs. Myrtle Tetreau- led in
prayer.
Mrs. Marian Steckle sang
"Ring the Bells" accOmpdnied on
piano by Mrs. Campbell. Joanne
and Mary Jane McLinchey from
Greenway Anglican Church sang
"How Great Thou Art."
Mrs. Philip Walker provided
two numbers in song from the
Catholic church entitled "Rise up
Shepherd and follow" and "Lo
how a rose e're blooming."
Mrs. Marie McKinnon from the
United Church sang two solos
accompanied by her guitar
"What child is this?" to the tune
of Greensleeves and "Jesus is
born."
All enjoyed singing carols and
Mrs. Janet Desjardine took the
topic "Love does not count the
loss" in three parts "Isn't this
wonderful?" "Isn't He won-
derful?" and "Isn't it won-
derful?" Scripture reading was
from Psalm 139, 0 Lord thou has
searched me, based on John 3-16.
Mrs. Desjardine also gave the
story behind the painting of the
"Praying Hands."
All members and guests joined
hands in a circle and meeting
closed with lunch served in the
S.S. rooms.
Young people meet
The Young People's teen age
group met last Sunday in the S.S.
rooms of the United Church with
12 attending. The worship service
centred on a Christmas theme
, was given by Janet Allister.
The group decided to go out
Christmas carolling on
December 19. During the
program time they divided into
groups and discussed drugs.
A singsong of Christmas carols
was enjoyed and the social time
was spent in a game supplied by
Shelly Meecham.
Grand Bend girl marries

Mr., & Mrs. Jim Love, was

Crispy Critters
The Grand Bend Crispy Crit-
ters 4-H club, combined their
sixth and seventh meetings
together, held Thursday night at
Mrs. Allan Walpers.
Meeting 6 roll call was "My, two
free choice cereal recipes from
member pamphlet,"and meeting
7 roll call was "The label of a
cereal product and discuss 2
points of information that it gives
you. Mount label in record book."
Next meeting is planned for
working relationship in regard to
development of the Sherwood
property, than we are in fact with
council. As indisputable evidence
of this, I enclose a copy of the
questionnaire we prepared some
time ago for delivery to each and
every resident of Green Acres,
Please note that the date is
November 23, 1976. The reason
these were not delivered, and the
process of close consultation
started, must be obvious to you:
council's original misin-
terpretation of our correspon-
dence created an unfortunate
climate in which to discuss the
question rationally.

IN THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
"We are still most anxious to
deal directy with the residents of
Green Acres on this question if
and when, to put it bluntly,
council shows some .evidence of
approaching this possible
development in a manner that
exhibits some element of
responsibility and sensitivity and,
most of all, with some common
sense.
"if we may say so, you are.
charged with the responsibility of
governing as wisely as you can a
growing community with a tremendous amount of potential. •
As one property owner in your
municipality, we must appeal to
you to accept and discharge that
responsibility in a manner that
will be beneficial to all residents
and property owners.
