nor had there been any architect
drawings which Triebner in-
dicated were necessary.
Veri explained that a local
building supplies firm had
prepared plans for the building
and noted that an architect would
draw them up exactly the
same, with the exception that
there would be a $400 or $500 fee
attached.
He said he didn't think an ar-
chitect's drawing would be
required for an agricultural
building.
After some discussion, Mayor
Shaw indicated the town would
contact the ministry of labor in
an effort to get a ruling on the
situation.
The other matter broached by
Veri was over the fact that the
mobile homes in Riverview
Estates had been assessed and he
had been sent tax notices. He
advised council he was also
paying a $15 monthly licence fee
for each unit.
Veri suggested that if the units
were to be assessed and the
licence fee dropped, his tenants
should be given up to 60 days'
notice before the change is in-
stituted.
He indicated that the taxes
would be higher than the $15
licence.
Council members agreed that
the licence fee should be carried
through to the end of January and
any money paid by Veri for taxes
on the units to date should be
repaid to him.
Before leaving the meeting,
Veri asked if the town would start
providing garbage pickup and
road maintenance now that the
units in the park were assessed
similar to other homes in the
community,
Mayor Shaw indicated council
would consider that matter,
although, later in the meeting,
works superintendent Glenn
Kells explained the town could
not take over maintenance of the
roads in the mobile home park
because they were too narrow.
Helmets for
moped riders
Acting upon recommendations
of the Select Committee on High-
way Safety, Minister of Tran-
sportation and Communications
James Snow recently announced
a new regulation that makes it
mandatory for all drivers of
mopeds (mgtor-assisted
bicycles) to wear approved
motorcycle helmets.
The regulation is effective as of
January 1, 1977.
The Select Committee, which
includes representatives of all
three Ontario political parties,
requested that the amendment to
The Highway Traffic Act be
brought into force with a view
towards reducing deaths and
':head injuries among moped
drivers.
According to the most recent
MTC statistics, four moped
drivers were killed and 203 in-
jured on Ontario roads during the
first nine months of 1976.

Exeter council's meeting

started, Monday, but no one left

Mayor Bruce Shaw called for a
15-minute recess at which time
council discussed two matters
with Len Veri. Shaw did not
provide any explanation why the
discussion should be carried on
during a recess. The 15-minute
recess lasted for almost half an
hour.
Veri's first request to council
was for a ruling regarding the
construction of a pole-barn im-
plement shed at Exeter Produce
and Storage. He had started
construction on the building, but
work was halted by building
inspector Doug Triebner because
no site plan had been submitted
