The annual C.G.I.T, Vesper Service will be held in the church onSunday, December 12- Persona Is Get well wishes are extended to Carlton Ridley who is a patient in Strathroy General Hospital suffering from pneumonia. Mr. Ridley is a former resident of Granton and has been staying at Craigholme, Ailsa Craig. We are happy to report that Mrs. Harry Nixon is settling in her new home at Extendacare, London, and appears to be quite content there. A speedy recovery is wished for Mrs. Peter VanLeishout who is a patient in Stratford General Hospital. Keith Summers of Toronto was home for the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Sum- mers. Many ladies attended the classes for "Neddlepoint for beginners" sponsored by the Women's Institute and held in the Anglican Church Hall Tuesday, November 23, Instructors were Mrs. Clarence Lewis, Granton W.I. and Mrs. Chas. Gowan, Prospect Hill Institute. Several members from St, Thomas Anglican Church at- tended the Ordination. Service for the Rev. Mary A. Mills held in St. Pauls Cathedral, London on Tuesday evening, November 30. evening November 29. President Mrs. Larry Hern welcomed everyone and invited them after supper to look over the various exhibits. There was all kinds of hand- Riddell who opened with a carol sing, Mrs. Tate read the Christmas story from the scripture followed by a meditation on this theme, Mrs, Riddell gave two readings "Humbug one view of Christ- mas" and "Let's put Santa back in the church". The roll call was answered with a Christmas verse. The meeting closed with the Benediction pronounced by Mrs. Tate. Mrs. Stanley Crawford and Mrs. Terry Johnson assisted the hostess to serve lunch. Unit five met at the home of Mrs. Clare Bryan also Wed- nesday evening. Mrs. Chas. MeRobert presided and con- ducted the business, The program was devoted to the meaning of Christmas with all the members taking part, with readings or poems, all per- taining to this very special time of the year. Each exhibitor gave a short talk on their particular craft mentioning that the articles were for sale, this included two hand- made quilts made by Mrs, Ethel Mills of St, Marys. Later in the evening Mrs. Penny Watson of Country Flowers Exeter gave a demon- stration of Christmas Floral arrangements, one of which was raffled, the money going for Cancer Research, this arrangement was won by Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins. Mrs. Norman Hodgins was in charge of the program taken from the Living Message reading the invocation, meditation, litany and two poems entitled Lovers Light and Is This Your Parish? Minutes were ready by assistant secretary Mrs. Ethel Crouch and treasurer's report was given. Business was discussed. Rev, Mary Mills presided for the election of of- ficers and expressed her ap- preciation to Mrs. Noon for her work given for the two years she was president. Rotating presidents were decided on for two month periods. President for January and February Mrs. Percy Hodgins; secretary, Mrs. Lois Herbert; assistant secretary, Mrs. Ethel Crouch; treasurer, Mrs. Clarence Lewis; sunshine, Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and Mrs. Margery Morley; Auditors, Mrs. Percy Hodgins and Mrs. Jim Hodgins. Mrs. Noon closed the meeting with prayer and lunch was served by Mrs. Norman Hodgins. Church News At the St. Thomas Anglican Church Rev. Mary A. U.C.W. units meet Unit 1 met in the United Church basement for their Christmas meeting Wednesday afternoon December 1, with Miss Mable McNaughton presiding and conducting the business. Mrs, Glen Jameson, secretary treasurer, reported that the unit had exceeded its Mission and Services Allocation, arrangements for the general meeting program were discussed as it is Unit one who is in charge this year, also contributions towards Christmas dinner in the way of food were requested by the Social Committee. The Worship Service and program were combined and convened by Mrs. Robert Hardie, the theme was the Christmas story which Mrs. Hardie read from the Scripture, also a Meditation assisted by readers Mrs, ,E, Morden , Mrs. C.B. Westman and Mrs. E, Summers. Mrs. Hardie related two unique Christmas stories. The table decorations were provided by Mrs. Douglas Tuttle who originally was to have been the hostess, but who was not well enough to attend, Mrs. Wm. Lambert was hostess to Unit four Wednesday evening, December 1. Mrs. Nelson Tate presided and opened with the business session which included final plans with regard to assisting with the food for the Christmas dinner at the general meeting.
