These members join four others who were named last summer and who have been operating the County Housing Authority since September 1, 1976 when it replaced municipal housing authorities in Goderich and Clinton and direct management authorities in Wingham, Seaforth, Exeter and Bayfield. Other authority members are W. Harold Knisley of Goderich (chairman), Ken Flett of Clinton, Frank Sills of Seaforth and Jack Delbridge of Exeter. The appointments are spread over the county to meet provincial regulations. Board members are not paid but receive expenses. Now that the authority is up to its full membership, Mr, Lyndon said, it can begin to administer public housing in the county. There will likely be a board meeting in early Decembenwhen duties and responsibilities will be outlined, Mr. Lyndon said. The authority is responsible for selecting tenants among ap- plicants, collecting rents and reviewing and verifying incomes of the persons living in the rent- geared-to-income housing. Officially created September 1, the lo'cal authority is responsible to the Ontario Housing Corp. (OHC). It was formed . to in- tegrate the former Goderich and Clinton housing authorities and take over administration of public housing in other county centres which had been run directly by OHC. There are 217 public housing units for senior citizens in Huron County, Mr. Lyndon said, as well as 84 family units. More senior citizens' units are under con- struction in Zurich and Blyth No news may not be good Exeter's RAP committee have still not received any word on whether they have been suc- cessful in getting approval for a Local Initiatives Program (LIP) grant. However, chairman Ruth Durand is not subscribing to the theory that no news is good news. She said this week she feels the lack of communication must inclicatelthatgxeter's application has been turned down. Officials had promised to let the com- mittee know almost three weeks ago about the verdict. If it had been received, RAP had hoped to recall some. staff members who are now on tem- porary layoffs to undertake the park projects which were in- cluded in the LIP grant ap- plication.
