Charges against snowmobiles and marijuana possession MIDDLESEX F OF A MEETS — The annual meeting of the Middlesex Federation of Agriculture for the townships of Biddulph, London and West Nissouri was held Monday night at the Lucan Anglican Church. He was apprehended in Lucan Saturday morning by Constable W,R, Disher of the Lucan detach- ment of the Ontario Provincial Police. Youth stage mini rally A one-day event of joy and celebration was held in Lucan United Church on Saturday, with a "mini" youth rally in the evening. Mr. George Anderson of Thornhill, the associate director of Faith-at-work in Canada with his team Keith and Dorothy Pa from Christ the King Anglican Church, Etobicoke, Mr. Paul is Chairman of Toronto F.A.W. Conference, Stev. Nickling, Hamilton, Barb McMath, Music Director for Toronto F.A.W, Con. a former circus performer, and Helen Botell, RN., of Mississauga, led the group in singing, prayer, fellowship, Bible study, sharing, fun and laughter with new friends. At the Sunday service, Mr. Anderson gave an inspiring talk on thinking of life as a celebration, looking at things and events positively and putting our faith to work in support of and to our Church. The semi-annual Friendship Unit "Fellowship Luncheon" followed the service, and this was much enjoyed by those present. Two meetings of Boards were held after the luncheon — the Committee of Stewards met to arrange a Stewardship Visitation and the Official Board of the Charge met to receive the resignation of Rev. Madden, who has accepted a call to the Sparta- Union Charge, effective January 1, 1977. During this meeting John Park, recording steward for the ast 40 years retired and Jim Scott of the Clandeboye Charge was ap- pointed. John's many years of service is greatly appreciated by the congregations of Lucan and Clandeboye, Today, Thursday, at 9:45 a.m. the Women's Inter-Church Fellowship will meet at the United Church. All women in the community, are welcome. Doers and not hearers The Lucan and Clandeboye Explorers met Monday after school. This week's exploration centred around the Explorer Model (the doers of the word and not hearers only). Several skits were put on by the girls to illustrate this. Chief counselor Mrs. Froats presented gold, blue and red stars to the girls. Next Exploration will be Monday, November 29 when a Christmas film strip will be shown. Bingo, bridge and crafts were enjoyed by the Sunshine and Busy buddies groups at their meeting on Thursday afternoon, Bridge winners were Helen Thompson and Ivan Stanley. Charlotte Barker chaired the business meeting in the absence of the president. Letters of thanks were read from emma Langford and the Herberts and the Tops Bazaar on Saturday and the "Snowflake" Bazaar on December 3, were announced, Plans were finalized for the visit to the Ilderton Seniors Club this afternoon, Thursday, leaving The Hall promptly at 12:30 p,m, One snowmobile operator in the area has been charged with failing to produce evidence of insurance. A theft of $1,359 from the safe of the House of Concord at RR1, Ilderton was reported to police. Damages in nine wilful damage occurrences totalled $772. During the week detachment officers worked a total of 433 hours and patrolled 3,139 miles in all phases of police work, Four motor vehicle accidents created property damages of $4,400. Sunday at 3:30 p,m, vehicles driven by Viola White, Arkona and Karl Freeman, London were in collision on Highway 7 at Elginfield. Constable D.R. Vance set damages at $1,400. Constable Vance listed damages at $2,025 when an automobile driven by James Ballantyne, RR 5, London and a truck operated by Charles Pollard, London were in collision on Highway 4, just north of Concession 10 in London town- ship. HAROLD DAVIS An open house was held this week at the Rectory to celebrate its 100th birthday. Mrs. Rev. .Mills greeted the visitors from the community and sister parishes. Personals Mrs. Myrtle Hanna, Mrs, Dave Shamblaw accompanied by Mrs, Alex Gartenburg of Woodham visited a few clays with Mr. & Mrs. Peter Gartenburg and family of Toronto and also Mr. & Mrs. Jim Gartenburg of Kingston. Members of the Lucan Women's Institute met in the Masonic Hall on Wednesday afternoon for a most interesting meeting on Citizenship and World Affairs As convener, Mrs. Ewart Madden had the members discuss, on a one-to-one basis, the Motto "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, also what it takes to sit down and listen". The comments were then reported to the group. Mrs. Madden had obtained two copies of Monday's paper and the group was subdivided into two groups to find and cut out all items pertaining to the topic. These items were then divided into two sections — things we can do something concrete about and things we can pray about for the solving of the problem. It was a real learning situation, The roll call also proved in- teresting and sometimes humorous — "A metric measurement (your height, weight, temperature, etc.)". The business meeting was chaired by president Mrs. Lillian Ashton, and it was decided that the "White Gifts" at the Christmas meeting should go to the Home for Girls on Belton Street, London. The girls are ages 16 to 20. Gifts could include stationery, toiletries, cookies, Mrs. Mervin Shute, Mrs. Clarence Switzer, Mrs. 'Ray Paynter, Mrs. Rea Stephen and Mrs. Robt. Ratcliffe of Kirkton Institute attended officers banquet Monday night in St. Marys at the Friendship Centre with St. Mary's Women's Institute as hostess. Mr. & Mrs. Burns Blackler were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. Sr Mrs. Harold Henry of London. Visiting Mr. & Mrs. Howard Bearss Saturday evening to mark the occassion of their 40th wedding anniversary were their family, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Bearss, RR 1, St. Mary s; Mr, & Mrs. Ken Bearss, RR 1, St. Mary s; Mr. & Mrs. Norman Jefferson, RR 1, Fullerton; Mr. & Mrs. Richard Bradford, RR 1, Kirkton; Mr, & Mrs. Gordon Hutchison, Thorn- dale; Mr. & Mrs. David Ross, Stratford; Mr. & Mrs, Jim Ostler, of Browns Corners. A letter of thanks was read from Mrs. Alan Hill for the Gideon Bible presented in memory of her mother Mrs. Erwin Scott and a letter with a donation was recieved from Mrs. Harvey Langford, who is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital. Mrs. Ashton, who had been the branch delegate to the Area Convention last week in Tillsonburg, gave an excellent report with highlights of the various speeches, etc. The mystery prize was won by Kathleen Neil and refreshments were provided by Mrs. F. Jolliffe and Mrs. H. Bond. The P.R.O, Mrs. M. H. Hodgins reported that plans for further medical coverage in the village have progressed exceptionally well and that Dr. W. A. M. Lock of Arva has bought the Rogers home on. Frank Street to be in practise there each day except Wednesday and Sunday com- mencing the end of January or early February. Mr, Gote Wennerstrom had the misfortune to break his leg in a farm accident. He had it set in St. Joseph's Hospital where he remained until Sunday and is now recuperating at the home of Mrs. Myrtle Isaac and Marjorie, London. Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis were guests Friday at the home of Mrs. Raymond Greenlee, Exeter and Sunday Mrs. Greenlee en- tertained Mr. & Mrs. Earl Greenlee. Congratulations to Mr. Fred Dobbs, the new reeve for the township of Biddulph for the coming year. Miss Nancy Tindall spent the weekend with her friend Miss Kim Flood, Lucan.
