Both contests were played at the Huron Park arena. The only Exeter goal against Goderich came from the stick of Doug Scott on a three-way com- bination with Jeff Pfaff and George Pratt. Against Huron East, the goal which proved to be the winner was fired at 7.30 of the third period by Scott Lovie on a pass from Steve Laithwaite. Huron East had taken a 1-0 lead by the end of the first period. The Exeter youngsters tied the score at 7.10 of the second period. Steve Laithwaite was the marksman with assists going to Doug Scott and Jeff Pfaff. The second goal for the winners was picked up by Darren Vandergunst as he converted a pass from Steve Laithwaite. The atom "A" club is spon- sored jointly by Exeter Ford and the local branch of the Scotia Bank. Loss for atom II The Exeter Atom 11 team travelled to Dorchester Saturday afternoon and were beaten 3-1 by their hosts. Although being ouplayed the Exeter crew showed marked im- provement over earlier contests and in the third period started holding their own with the more experienced Dorchester crew. Exeter' lone goal came in the third period when they were playing a man short. Bill Fisher moved in to pick up a pass from Brett Batten to blink the red light. Pee wees win two The Exeter pee wees were in action on two occasions this week in the Shamrock minor league. Saturday they edged past Strathroy by a score of 2-1 and Sunday they bombarded Huron Park 13-0. All goals in the Exeter win over Strathroy came in the third period. Scott Pincombe started the Exeter scoring with an unassisted effort at the two minute mark, Only a minute later, Darryl Berghan tied the score for Strathroy. Another minute elapsed and the winning Exeter goal was fired by Mike Clark on a pass from Bill Glover. The Exeter youngsters started slow in the win over Huron Park. After the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie at the end of the first period, Exeter took over scoring command with two goals in the second frame and four more in the final session. The first Exeter goal came on a successful shot by Rick Lin- denfield on a pass from Jeff Fuller, Tony Underhill replied for Huron Park with the assist going to Benjie Hillman. Kevin Parsons and Jeff Fuller were Exeter's second period marksmen with the lone assist going to captain Doug Brooks. In the third period, Jeff Fuller fired his second goal on a pass from Doug Fletcher and David .M. Bell scored unassisted in a space of 40 seconds. To wind up the scoring Kevin Easterbrook converted a pass from David M. Bill Glover with a hat trick performance led the Exeter scoring attack, Close behind with two goals apiece were David Shaw, Mike Murray and Steve Riddell. Scoring in single fashion were David Underwood, Mark Van- dergunst, Scott Pincombe and' Scott Brintnell. Midgets break even The Exeter Midgets were in action on two occasions this week in Shamrock minor league play and gained an even split. Thursday in Glencoe, the midgets edged Strathroy 4-3 and Friday at Huron Park they lost by a score of 3-2 to Ilderton. . After a scoreless first period Thursday, the Exeter club took a 2-1 lead after two periods of play and each team scored twice in the final frame. Captain Brad Taylor notched both goals in the second period. Dave Atthill assisted on one and Dennis Preszcator helped on the other. Early in the third, Randy Parsons converted a pass from Paul Pooley and Dave Atthill completed the Exeter scoring on a three-way combination with Paul Van Gerwen and Brian Mercer. A goal by Jeff Hartman mid- way through the third period allowed Ilderton to gain Friday's 3-2 win over Exeter. Jeff Mar- shall" gained an assist on the winning shot. Randy. Fisher-chalked-up the first Exeter goal on an unassisted effort and Paul Pooley fired the second on a play started by Dave Bogart and Perry Pooley. The other Ilderton goals came from the sticks of Paul Medd and Jeff Marshall. By GAYLAN JOSEPHSON • The 1976-77 skating season's well underway. We are optimistic and believe thatthis year will be a productive and enjoyable one, in spite of having to skate in two arenas. A few words of explanation ahoUt our skating program. The National Skating Test Program is a method of testing by badges. It was designed to encourage skating as a recreation by providing an interesting and challenging program for young skaters. Brad Loosley is with us again as the club pro, and we are looking forward to another successful year under his guidance, We are proud of our coaches who will be assisting Brad this season, and are grateful for the time and effort they put' into helping the younger skaters. The coaches this year are Nancy Underwood, Linda Elder, Eleanor Salmon, Carrie Black- burn, Sheila McLeod, Danette McLeod, Elaine Pym and Charlie Smith, These amateur coaches receive training each year at special training clinics. Several events have been scheduled for the skating season. The first of several badge test days has been set for December 6, 1976. A C,F.S.A. test day has been scheduled for early February 1977.
