AI LSA CRAIG
Monday, November 8„Harold
Martin of Ailsa Craig was
awarded the Ontario Provincial
Police Commissioner's Citation
at their presentation ceremony at
Petrolia.
The citation was awarded to
Harold Martin in recognition of
the assistance he rendered to the
Ontario Provincial Police, He
was presented with a certificate
by Commissioner H.H. Graham
which bears the inscription, "by
his exemplary actions, he
demonstrated great dedication to
the well-being of his com-'
munity".
In addition to the certificate, he
was also presented with a citation
medal bearing his name and the
date, which is attractively en-
cased in a clear plastic block.
Manager of the Ails,a Craig
Cyanamid Farm Supply Centre,
Harold Martin has been an active
member of the community for the
past fifteen years. He and his
wife, Ruth. presently live at
Nairn with their two sons.
Successful bazaar
Cars lined the streets for blocks
around the former Ailsa Craig
Public School on Saturday,
November 20, when the mothers'
Take A Break group held their
second annual bazaar. Local
residents arid visitors from
surrounding communities filled
the school, buying hand made
crafts and baked goods in
preparation for Christmas and
for immediate needs.
And often the selection was not
an easy one as two former
classrooms were filled with hand
made articles. Approximately
forty different craftsman had set
up booths in the bazaar
displaying a wide variety of
crafts,
As at most bazaars the temp-
ting home-baking was an item
few could resist, and the coun-
tless pies, cakes, cookies, etc,
were sold shortly at ter the bazaar
opened.
The Take A Break Group meets
twice a month at the former Ailsa
Craig Public School when the
mothers get together for crafts,
lectures, etc. Babysitting is
provided for the pre-schoolers
while mother "takes a break".
Saturday, December 11, has
been scheduled for the Ailsa
Craig annual Santa Claus
Parade, The parade will com-
mence at I. p.m. and follow its
usual route through the village.
Young and old are invited to
enter floats and be in the parade.
No theme has been set for the
parade, thus giving entries a
wide scope in which to work. It is
hoped that this year's parade can
be bigger and that many will
catch the spirit of the event and
take part,
Following the parade the
children will again be invited to
greet Santa at the fire hall where
they will each receive a gift of
Christmas sweets.
The parade is again sponsored
by the local 'volunteer firemen,
