FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel and Mrs. & Mrs. Otto Darling were in charge of the Euchre party in the Community Centre on Monday night with 10 tables in play. Prize winners were: ladies' high score, Mrs. Georgina Webster; ladies' lone hand, Mrs. Jack Dickens; low, Mrs. Agnes Davis; men's high, George Dixon; lone hands, Murray Carter; low, Tom Kooy. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Dickens and Mr. & Mrs. Maurice MacDonald will convene the next party in two weeks time. Senior citizens met in the Community Centre Monday for an afternoon of crokinole and cards followed by lunch. The next get-together will be in the schoolroom of the United Church, December 13, when the seniors will be entertained to a turkey dinner by the United Church Women. Personals Stephen Molnar of Agincourt spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. S. Molnar. His wife and family visited in St. Thomas with her mother, Mrs. Geddes. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. Murray Abbott were Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Abbott and family of Niagara Falls and Mr. & Mrs. Lltrycl Maguire and family of Scotland. Mrs. JOhn Thompson was a visitor last week at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Reid Brown and family in Lambeth. Mrs. Lorne Hicks returned home on Tuesday following an enjoyable trip to Hawaii with Fettes Tours. Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Molnar had a pleasant surprise on Satur- day when Huron-Middlesex M.P,P, John Riddell paid them a visit and presented them with a plaque from Ontario Premier William Davis in honour of their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Harold Willard of London and Mrs. Lorna Hay of Exeter were Sunday evening dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Greb. Senior citizens are reminded of the meeting in the Community Centre on Monday afternoon. more UCW meets The November meeting of Cen- tralia U.C.W. was held Thursday evening in the fellowship hall of the Church with members. and several guests present. Mrs. Alvin Lobb, president opened the business portion of the meeting with poem "Peace", The minutes and reports were read and approved. She also reported the resource centre for United Church material is available now in Mitchell. It is open in the day time and by ap- pointment at night. Mrs. Sam Skinner, Mrs. Bob Blair were in charge of the programme. Mrs. Skinner open- ed with prayer and all sang the hymn "Nearer my God to Thee", Mrs. Blair gave the meditation on peace with prayer. Mrs. Ray Mills sang a solo ac- companied by Mrs. Russell Wilson, two readings were read on "Peace in the Home" and "Peace in the World" with two hymns, "0 God of Love" and "Now the Day is Over." Rev. John Beaton introduced the guest speaker. Miss Elaine Townshend a free lance writer and also. on the executive af- filiated with "Alpha," for Huron. She spoke about incidents in her own life and also dis- crimination and physical barriers for the handicapped people of the world. A hearty thanks was given to our speaker and a cheque to Alpha. MEDICAL GRAD Marikay Hodgins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hodgins, Centralia recently graduated from Fanshawe College in the Medical Laboratory program receiving her R. T. diploma from the Cana- dian Society of Laboratory Technologists. She has accepted a position in the Cytoginetics department at Victoria Hospital, London.
