*air celebrate
By PAUL SALMQN
Saturday, Novemher 15 was a
very special day for Wilfred and
Philomene Hogan as they
celebrated 45 happy years of
marriage. The occasion had an
added charm as Mr. & Mrs.
Hogan renewed,in theirhotne, the
same vows that they exchanged
in 1931 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Church.
Mrs, Hogan's original maid of
honour, Mrs. Theresa Ducharme
and Mr, Hogan's original best-
man, Hubert Desjardine, were
both involved in the ceremony
and helped to instill a tinge of
nostaligic sentiment into the
proceedings.
The original ceremony was
conducted by the Reverend W.T,
Corcoran and Father Mooney
conducted the proceedings for the
couple's second trip to the alter.
Fortunately, all of Mr, and Mrs.
Hogan's six children, their one
great-grandchild and most of
their 20 grandchildren were able
to share this special occasion
with the couple.
After the ceremony held at 4:30
p,n1 , the family enjoyed a
delicous supper at the Dashwood
Community Centre. An open
reception followe, with both Mr.
liraintances. In these times of
rs. Hogan renewing many old
increasing permissiveness it is
reassuring to know that marriage
can still be a lasting bond that
stands the test of time.
There will be a special meeting
of the Parent-Teacher
Association for Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel School on Thursday,
November 18 at 8:30 p.m. in the
school gym. The special speaker
at the meeting will be Mr. J, Mills
who will talk on the topic of
education today.
