A tractor-trailer driven by
John Hodgert, RR 1, Kirktbn and
a pickup truck driven by Edward
Routledge, RR 1, Hyde Park
were in collision, also Wed-
nesday.
The first of three Thursday
mishaps occurred at 1,10 p,m, in
the yard of Langford lumber
between a Canadian National
Railways train and a vehicle
driven by James E. Burt, Lucan.
The train engineer was Lionel
Beale and Constable J. A. Wilson
listed damages at $1,000.
At 4.15 the same day vehicles
driven by Richard Allan Cannon,
Goderich and Ronald Hardie,
Granton collided on Highway 4,
just south of County road 22 at
Clandeboye,
Constable W, Disher in-
vestigated and estimated
damages at $1,600,
At 10 p.m. Wednesday a vehicle
driven by Linda Powell, Kerwood
left the roadway of Highway 22,
west of the Hyde Park road.
Damage was set at $2,200 by
Two Lucan area young people
are still hospitalized following an
accident Wednesday afternoon on
Adelaide street at the in-
tersection of Concession 12 and
13, London township,
Jill Fowles of Lucan is in
University Hospital, London
suffering a broken pelvis and
Mary Ann Giesen is expected to
be released from the same
hospital in a few days.
The two girls and six other
Medway high school students
were riding in a station wagon
being driven by Joanna Giesen,
Lucan when it was in collision
with a dump truck driven by
Harold Hodgins, RR 4, Denfield.
The other students who suffered
minor injuries were Robert
McCormick, Bernadine Giesen,
Henry Giesen, Shelly Egan and
Kim and Tom Emery.
Constable N. A. Campbell of
the Lucan Ontario Provincial
Police detachment investigated
and set damages at $4,500.
Constable W. T, Hodgins listed
damages a t $7,000 in an accident

At 6.30 a.m. Friday, a Weston
Bakeries truck driven by Arthur
Johnston, London went out of
control on Highway 4, just south
of the Mt. Carmel road and
overturned in the ditch. Con-
stable G. N. Wilcox listed
damages at $800.
Vehicles driven by Rae Wild,
London and James Dunsmore,
Lucan collided on County road 23,
north of Concession 13 and 14 in
London township Friday at 7.30
a,rn. Constable G. J. Barker set
damages at $5,400.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Friday
vehicles driven by Gayle Riley
and Douglas Reberg, both of
Main Street, Lucan collided when
they were backing from their
respective driveways, Damages
was listed at $400 by Constable J.
A. Wilson.
Early Saturday morning, a
vehicle driven by Richard
Weiler, Lambeth left County road
20, south of Concession 7-$ in
London township causing $400
damages as estimated by Con-
stable G. N. Wilcox.
Saturday at 4 p.m. vehicles
driven by John Kechine, Strat-
ford and Antonia Richards, RR 2,
Lucan were in collision on
Concession 15, London township,
a mile west of County road 23.
Constable W. T. Hodgins listed
damages at $800.

excellent job they did for the
Branch in the 1976 Poppy Blitz.
Even though the weather was
inclement these young men and
women went from door to door in
Lucan and surrounding area and
collected a total of $159. With
young folk such as these, we can
rest assured our Nation will be
left in good hands.
And here is a date no one will
wish to forget. Saturday,
November 13 and there is good
reason to remember. This is the

Comrade William Beneditti in
July of 1944. I am sure many of
our readers will remember
reading it while in the Service
and during our Remembrance
Period I felt it most appropriate
to reprint.

Normandy,
Three dusty mounds of earth, a
hasty cemetery.
The only information on the
rough hewn cross was shown

Lucan village council has
agreed to a request from CH.
Lewis Ltd. for an increase in the
rates for 1977 for garbage pickup
in the village,
Residential collections will
now cost Lucan residents $2.45
for every four week period. This
is an increase of 20 cents,
The new rate for commercial
collections will be $4.50 for the
same four week period, an in-
crease of 50 cents.
A land severance application
from Ernie Ross for part of Lot
61, Plan 210 was approved by
council and will be forwarded to
the Middlesex County land divi-
sion committee for their con-
sideration
An agreement is being worked
out with David Thompson, Butler
Street, concerning sewer in-
stallations and road restoration.
Works superintendent Bert
Thompson was authorized to
purchase a transit level at an ap-
proximate cost of $400.
Wright Autos Sales of Seaforth
are being informed that their
application to establish a car
sales lot on the former Fina
property at the south end of the
village is contrary to present
zoning regulations.
The number of polling booths
for the village for any future
municipal elections is being in-
creased from two to three. All
will be located in the municipal
office.
An expenditure of $35 to
purchase a Remembrance Day
wreath was given approval.
Council endorsed two
resolutions. One was from the
of Markham Acing that
sports equipment obtained from
Wintario monies be purchased
locally.
The other asked support in ob-
jection to the proposed 33,3 per
cent proposed increase in On-
tario Hydro rates.
Super Snackers
of Elginfield, a vehicle driven by
Wendy Wilkins, London left the
roadway and caused damages of
$500. Constable Hodgins in-
vestigated.
Monday at 5.20 p.m. a vehicle
driven by Thomas Dulmage,
Ingersoll left Highway 4, just
south of the Lieury road and
struck a tree. Constable Wilson
set damages at $400.
A vehicle driven by Kenneth
Richman, London left Highway 7,
just west of the Thames River
bridge in West Nissouri township
at 7 p.m. Friday. Constable
Hodgins set damages at $400.
Only 35 minutes later at the
same location with Constable
Hodgins still on the scene
vehicles driven by Geraldine
Hymers, Stratford and Steven
Simons, Bornholm collided,
Damages were listed at $700.
Two other Sunday accidents
were of the one vehicle variety,

The girls then judged a class
of carried lunches and Mrs.
Gerald Straatman discussed
"Special Third Meals" such as
picnics and barbecues. The
salads and bread were a big

After three weeks in the in-
firmary at McCormick Home,
following several weeks at St.
Joseph's Hospital, recovering
from a broken hip, Miss Line
Abbott is back in her own room
again and working on her dolls
far her many customers.
She is most grateful for letters
and cards from far and near,
California and Detroit friends
and relatives and many old
friends in Toronto read of her
accident, in the Times Advocate
and wrote to her.
