CARMEL In keeping with my sincere belief that one should mix business with pleasure at every available opportunity, I attended this year's Novemberfest dance disguised as a reporter. The dance, held this past Friday night, was put on at the Dash- wood Community Center by members of the Catholic Women's League from this area. The 1-leyWOods provided music which had the desirable affect of rousing people from their seats and onto the dance-floor, A draw for a package of assorted goodies was held and Father Mooney was on hand to present the parcel to the winner, Norman Breen of the Mt. Carmel area, Proceeds from the draw will go to Brother Bob IVIitdeholtz's missionary project in India, which I described in last week's column, A chicken dinner which was good enough to make Colonel Sanders jealous topped off the occasion and left me resolved to personally investigate more social functions in the future. All of the villagers in Mt. Carmel would like to extend wishes for a very, happy birthday to Elizabeth Miller, the dedicated bell-ringer at Our Lady of Mt, Carmel Church, who celebrated her birthday, Monday, November 8, Here's hoping that Miss Miller can enjoy many more birthdays yet to come. Wishes for a happy birthday are also extended to Pauline McCann, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack McCann, who turned 12 on this past Friday, November 4. Pauline celebrated her bir- thday with the help of two friends, Lynn and Laurie Cronyn, the daughters of Larry and Mary Cronyn of Centralia, who spent this past weekend with Pauline. During this past weekend, Annie Van Massenhoven, the housekeeper at the Rectory in Mt. Carmel, travelled with her mother, Mrs. Mary Van Massenhoven and a friend, to the home of friends in Kitchener. Mrs. Mary Bedard, a resident of Detroit, spent this past weekend with her mother, Mrs. Catherine Morrissey, here in Mt. Carmel. Sunday, October 81, in the presence of family and friends, Mrs. Sandra Dietrich was welcomed into the Catholic Faith at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Special events that had been filmed with the new audio visual equipment were shown followed by a general discussion on volunteer work. Mrs. Firikbeiner of Exeter expressed the ap- preciation of the volunteers to Mr. Archibald for sharing his trip and to the kitchen staff who prepared the buffet lunch. Dick Roorda led the Christian Reformed Song Service on Sunday evening accompanied at the piano by Marlene Vanderwal. The residents enjoyed two numbers by the juniors. The Clinton Legion provided a film for the Family Night program, The story of the film was related to Armistice day and was filmed in Holland and France, Percy Brown and Bert Colombe operated the projector and Mrs, Henderson and Mrs, Parker played piano instruments during intermission.
