Ghosts busy
at Mt. Carmel
By PAUL SALMON
The howling of the wind and
rustling of the leaves combined to
create the spine-chilling at-
mosphere which accompanied an
invasion of ghosts and goblins
upon the quiet little village of Mt,
Carmel.
Around 25 miniature monsters
mysteriously emerged from the
shadows at different intervals on
this past Saturday night,
carrying sacks for treats and
soap for tricks, and then
ominously disappeared as rain
got the better of the evening.
The ladies of the Catholic
Women's League wish to extend a
special thanks to Brother Robert
Mittelholtz who addressed the
ladies at their meeting Wed-
nesday,, October 27, in the gym of
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School.
Mr. Mittelholtz has worked
with extreme dedication as a
missionary in Silliguri, a town in
India. Besides working with
victims of poverty and leprosy,
he also operates a house of
shelter, called Jesu Ashram, to
which he takes people who would
have otherwise died on the
streets, homeless and foresaken,
Mr, Mittelholtz described, with
the aid of slides, a world which,
to us, is almost beyond com-
prehension, where sacred cattle
stroll nonchalantly along the
same streets Where many
humans lie, close to death,
A collection was taken and $200
raised for Mr, Mittelholtz's
cause, and he expressed his
gladness that funds for his
project are only abundant
because people are so willing to
make donations to it. Mr, Mit-
telholtz also addressed ' the
children at Mt. Carmel School,
and impressed them'greatly with
his anecdotes,
On Sunday, October 17, .Todie
Lynn Glavin, the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James Glavin, was
baptized and welcomed as a
member of the parish at Our
Lady of Mt. Carmel Church,
