FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Molnar of Centralia was celebrated Satur- day at the Centralia Community Centre. The anniversary actually oc- curred on March 9, 1976 but Mr, Molnar was hospitalized at that time. The couple was married in Hungary in 1926, Mr. Molnar came to Canada in 1929 and his wife and son followed in 1934. After one year in Kitchener, Mr, Molnar says he discovered Centralia and has been there ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Molnar both worked at the Centralia R.C.A.F. base for 16 years until they retired in 1965. STEVE MOLNAR and two grandchildren. Saturday's celebration was sponsored by the Centralia Senior Citizens and Rev, John •Beaton was master of Ceremonies. Attending from a distance were cousins Mr. and Mrs. Kon- rad, DUndas ; Mrs, Emma Tasko, London and Mrs. Marion Penwarden; Sarnia. There was a short program and the afternoon was spent in crokinale and cards. United Church Women catered to the dinner. U.C.W. MEM' The October meeting of the United Church Women was held in the schoolroom of the church Thursday evening with Mrs. Chas. Railings and Mrs. Ken Hodgins in charge of the meeting. The theme for the Worship ser- vice was "The Light of the World". Taking part in the devotions were Mrs. Lobb who gave the scripture reading. Meditations on the scripture were taken by Mrs. Lorne Hicks and Mrs. Chas. Railings and the readings were interspersed with the singing of hymns. Mrs. Marion Deline favoured with a vocal solo with Mrs. Russell Wilson at the piano. Mrs. Alvin Lobb and Mrs. W.R. Essery reported on the South Huron Regional meeting held in the Hensall United Church. Centralia mourns the loss of the oldest resident with the sudden MARK ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Eckstein, 111 Weichel St, Kitchener, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Thanksgiving weekend. They were married October 9, 1926 by the late Rev. H. A. Sperling. They have three children, Kenneth of Acton, Roy of Drumbo, Mrs. H.J. (Betty) Groff of Guelph, and four granchildren. Mrs. Eckstein was the former Martha Becker of Dashwood. The family honored their parents to a family dinner October 8 and open house,on the 10th. Eastern Star lodge picks new officers At the October meeting of Ex- eter Chapter No. 222 a E.S. held in Exeter Public School, Mrs, Joyce Lavender and Earl Campbell were installed as worthy Matron and Worthy Patron; Mrs. Jean Travers and Donald Travers as Associate Matron and Associate Patron. Other officers installed in their respective stations are Mrs. Ella Middleton, Miss Kathleen Hay, Mrs. Maida Gaiser, Mrs. Mabel Kyle, Donald Gaiser, Douglas Martin; Mrs, Bernice Boyle, Mrs. Patricia Hendrick, Mrs. Edith Baker, Mrs. Jean Mills, Mrs. Doreen Webb, Mrs. Marilyn Zivkovic, Mrs, Rheta Playfoot, Robert Jackson. Mrs. Dorothy, Bell Grand Marshal was installing officer, Mr. Wm Bell I. Patron, Mrs. Margaret Lovell I. Marshal ; Mrs. Helen Wells D.D.G.M. I. Chaplain; Mrs. Maggie Campbell I. Warden; Mr. Harry Strang I. Sentinel. Assisting were past matrons and past patrons of Exeter Chapter and Mrs. Florence Symons, organist and Mrs. Louise Smale, soloist. Mrs. Violet Whitfield, Worthy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Ontario was a special guest. Several worthy matrons, worthy patrons and members of District No. 5 chapters were pre- sent. Mrs. Bernice Boyle and Hugh Boyle, retiring matron and patron, were presented with their past matron and past patron jewel and a gift from the chapter. The late Miss Anderson was highly respected and well known throughout the area. Sympathy is extended to Frank Hicks and his sister, Mrs. John Andrew and their families in the death of their mother, Mrs. George Hicks.
