No Other Car At Any Price Gives You What The 1977 Rabbit Gives You
The Rabbit is a radically new kind of automobile, from the ground up.
The Rabbit is a classic expression of the idea that form should follow function.
Because, unlike most cars in the world today, the Rabbit was designed from the inside
out, The line of the tar was determined by what goes on underneath the line. And, like
all things which ate designed this way, its beauty is an extension of its integrity.
For example, that dramatically sloping hood did not happen simply to give the
car a racey look. It's because the engine is mounted transversely (sideways), and
slanted, so it requires less space under the hood. And therefore allows more space in
the passenger compartment. The transverse engine also puts the weight of the engine
over the drive wheels for better traction, better road handling. It lowers the hood for
greater visibility. And creates less wind resistance for better fuel economy.
The Rabbit incorporates a unitized, safety-cell body with crumple sections front
and rear, It has a collapsible steering column, energy-absorbing bumpers, protective
side beams in the doors, front wheel disc brakes,
The Rabbit is a high performance cat that will accelerate from 0 to 50 mph in 8.2
seconds. It has a top speed of 100 mph and it will cruise at just about any speed under
that.
And with all that, the Rabbit gives you astonishing fuel economy. (It's the com-
bination of economy, performance and room that startles the exports.)
The Rabbit is available in Custom and Deluxe models with 2 or 4 doors and with
4-speed synchronized stick shift or optional automatic transmission.
It is a completely new automobile concept, It is innovative. It it ingenious.
Automotive experts have called it the car of the future.
The more you learn about the Rabbit, the better you'll understand why.

SH juniors get first win
The South Huron junior Pan-
thers won their first game of the
Huron-Perth Conference football
season Thursday as they downed
F. E. Madill of Wingham by a
score of 21-12,
The senior Panthers were idle
Thursday but will be back in
action this afternoon when they
travel to Listowel. The juniors
will also be playing as part of a
double header in Listowel,
r--
Norwell of Palmerston and.
Listowel lead the junior stan-
dings with six points each, while
Goderich and Stratford North-
western have four points
apiece and South 'Wren and
Central Huron of Clinton are
deadlocked with two points
apiece.
South Huron junior coach Dave
Cox said he was pleased with his
team's performance, Thursday,
He added, "We are really
proving. Penalties at inopportune
times against Wingham Cost us
two touchdowns,"
Cox and his assistant Colin
Lowndes have had to work with
mostly newcomers this year.
Only two of last year's starting
club are back this year. They are
Brian Mercer and Steve Boltz-
mann.
Thursday, the Panthers took an
8.0 lead in the first quarter and
were never headed.
Dave Atthill notched the first,
South Huron point as an early 35
yard punt went into the Whigham
end zone for a single point.
A few minutes later Sean
Walden galloped 26 yards for a
South Huron touchdown and
Doug Hoffman's convert attempt
was good.
Wingham was able to score a
major in the second quarter
which was unconverted which
left the Panthers in front 8-6 at
half-time,
Brian Mercer raced 16 yards to
the Wingham goal line in the
third period and Doug Hoffman
converted to put the Panthers
ahead 15-6.
Brian Mercer picked up his
second touchdown of the af-
ternoon early in the fourth
quarter to complete the South
Huron scoring. Wingham added
an unconverted major late in the
game and the score ended 21-12
for the Panthers.
Doug Hoffman was the leading
ball carrier for the Panthers with
a total of 133 yards in 28 carries.
Pete DeKoker and Brian Mercer
were on the receiving end of the
two successful passes from
quarterback Dave Atthill.
The Panthers picked up 14 first
downs, twice as many as their
opposition and gained a total of
247 yards.
