The Sacrament of World-Wide
Holy Communion was observed
in Lucan United Church on
Sunday with Rev. Ewart Madden
speaking on the theme "The
Lord's Supper — Its Significance
in the Life of the Christian".
Mr. Madden based his com-
ments on a collect for purity as
we approach the Lord's Table,
saying that Christ wants to give
Himself to us in a very special
way at His table, and we must
cleanse ourselves of all hostility
toward others, before coming to
the Table.

That was the situation outlined
by works superintendent Glenn
Kells this week regarding the
maintenance of right-of-ways
after the grader scraped off some
of their lawn while trying to level
the roadway.
Kells explained that the work
had been undertaken after he had
received a complaint about the
condition of the right-of-way from
another party.
Mrs. Vi Hennessey and Hans
Zeehuisen sent letters with their
complaints about the grading
operation and said they would
have to erect a fence to prevent
further damage to their
properties.
Councillor Ted Wright said he
commence leathercraft and new
members are welcome.
Lunch was provided by Albert
and Zelma Armstrong, Charlotte
Barker and Olga Bond.

after the complaint and admitted
that damage had occurred. At the
suggestion of Mayor Bruce Shaw,
a letter of apology will be sent to
the two residents.
Kells urged council to establish
a policy so the works depart-
ment would know what lanes they
could grade and what lanes they
couldn't,
He said if the lanes weren't
graded, the garbage truck
couldn't get in to service the
stores and merchants would have
to cart their garbage out to the
sidestreets.
Reeve Derry Boyle suggested
council get legal advice on the
status of right-of-ways so they
would know in the future what

regarding the law and obscene literature for sale at

exactly, what does the law consider to be obscene?
that tends to offend public morals by the exploita-

the work's artistic or literary merit is great, this may offset its

you see anything that you think is truly obscene, tell the

One of my sonsis now working and living in Toronto. He
lives in a pretty tough neighbourhood where mugging is
quite frequent, and, in spite of what the media claim, it is
on the increase.
Some of the friends that he works with have told him to
carry a hunting knife for protection, and this he is now do-
ing. However I have told him that this is against the law.
We have had a few arguments over this so I wonder if
you can tell me, if I am right, or if it is considered legal
these days, when it's carried for protection.
While it is not illegal to carry a hunting knife for a peaceful
reason, it is illegal to carry one for protection, because your sole
purpose would be to use it as a weapon for a dangerous pur-
pose, and not merely as a tool.
Therefore it is inadvisable for anyone to arm themself with a
knife.
In your particular case we think it would be much better to ad-
vise your son to move to another port of the city or suburbs,
because in spite of what you may think, statistics definitely show
Toronto to be one of the safest large cities in which to reside in
North America.
