Grand Bend seniors
enjoy outing to north
By PAUL SALMON
For most experienced
travellers a trip by plane entails
no real charm, but rather is a
monotonous sojourn which begins
when a complete stranger
searches them thoroughly for
The Golden Age club of Grand
Bend went on a charter bus trip
up north Thursday, with 44
Members and friends. Their first
stop was at Douglas Point, where
they viewed a motion picture
with commentary and then a tour
of the outside area.
Next stop was at Harriston
Park in Owen Sound where they
enjoyed a picnic lunch.
A stop at the Kaufman 16 room
dwelling of modern and antique
furniture display. On to a tour of
the Collingwood Blue Pottery and
a stop at the shipyards,
The day rounded out with a stop
for supper at the Vanastra
Shillelagh in Clinton.

Tuesday evening at the home of
Mrs. Marg Roberts with 20 in

members to be made into diapers
and nighties for the Christmas
shower for Lambton County
Children's Aid at Sarnia.
President, Mrs. Kennedy read
a poem "Resolved to be tender
with the young, compassionate
with the aged, sympathetic with
the striving, tolerant with the
weak and wrong.
She told us sometimes in life
you will have been all of these.
Mrs. Susie Devine closed with a
prayer for those who live alone.
Lunch hostesses were Mrs,
Roberts, Kay Thomson and Gert
Flear.
The next meeting will be held
at Mrs. MacLaren's home,
October 19, in the form of a pot
luck supper.

concealed explosives and ends
with a sigh of relief at not having
had to make an unscheduled stop
in Cuba.
It is a completely different
situation, however, when the
traveller owns his own plane.
Since Nick Jeromkin Jr. of Mt,
Carmel does enjoy this privilege
he was able to take a trip and get
high on Saturday, September 18
without having to resort to the
use of any illegal drugs.
Mr . Jeromkin's father, Nick
Jeromkin Sr. of Khiva showed the
spunk and courage of a 20 year
old when he accompanied his son
in the craft, a courage which
much belied his 84 years.
When I am 84, I hope to have
the energy required to rise my
head upward to look at a plane,
let alone fly in one. Their
destination was Mackenzie Lake,
35 miles north of Bancroft, where
the younger of the air-born
Jeromkins owns a cottage.
The wives of the two Jeromkin
men travelled to the cottage by
car, and the foursome stayed
until Sunday, September 26.
However, Mr. Jeromkin Jr., who
returned alone in his plane, was a
day late in arriving back in our
area because poor visibility
forced him to make an un-
scheduled stay in Alliston.
On Sunday, September 26 a
shower was held for Theresa
Dietrich, the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Dietrich, in the gym
of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
School. On October 9, Theresa
will become the wife of Michael
Wayne Karkowski of Woodstock.
Michael Dietrich', the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dietrich,
and his wife Cathy have a new
member of the family. He is
Christopher Michael Dietrich,
who was born on September 7.
The Dietrich's reside in South
Mountain, Ontario, which is near
Ottawa.
The people of Mt. Carmel
deeply regret the sudden passing
of Mr. Joe Regier of Dashwood
who was in his 80th year. We
extend our sympathies to the
members of Mr. Regier's family,
to whom the loss of such a fine
and well-known man is all the
more severe,
Grandpa observes that trouble
in marriage often begins when a
man is so busy earning his salt
that he forgets his sugar.
