Mr. John Inkster of Manitoba was in

from the gun set tire to a consilerable -

This Canoe was blown to pieces, and the
eyes of the half-breed were badly iq,-
hured. Mr. Inkster escaped with burnt
ands and face.
James C. Wall, of Oshawa. was sen-
tenced, at St. Catherines, to be hanged
on the 30th December, for the heinous
crime of rape, perpetrated on a little girl
named Leavenworth in July last. His
Lordship, Judge Morrison, in passing
the sentence, gave the prisoner to un-
derstand that he need not expect a com-
mution of hu seutonce.
At the recent ethibition of the Mar-
quette Agricultural Society,held at Por-
tage la Prairie, Mr. Kenneth Mackenzie,
of Rat Creek, late of Puslinch township,

in horses, cattle, gram, roots, and spec-

The Town Council of Ingersoll hate
purchased a new rotary system Gee en-
gine from the Silaby Manufacturing Com-
pany, Seneca Falls, N. Y. The pricy to
be paid for the engine and one henderd
feet of home, is 114,700, Canadian cneren-

the machine will throw 500 gallons per
minute, in a horizontal stream of from
2:0 to '25() feet and a perpendicular
stream of 200feet.

Hamilton and Toronto lately,and has at•

Hindoo, and was born a Brahmin, but
about 30 years ago, when about 20 years
old, was oonverted to Christianity, and
has since been laboring among his coun-
trymen as a missionary, with much suc-
cess, In Toronto the reverend missionary
appeared in a dress which it is impoasi_
ble to deeerihe properly, but consisting
of a garment of white muslin, partially
