The South Huron District High School senior football club scored their second straight victory of, the young Huron-Perth Con- ference season Thursday with a close 9,7 decision over the Goderich Vikings, In the junior half of, the doubleheader against Goderich which was played on the South Huron athletic field, the Vikings scored a lopsided 39-0 win. This week the senior Panthers are idle while their junior counterparts will play host to Wingham this afternoon, Thursday at 2 p.m. at the local high school field. The followjng Thursday, October 14, both South Huron teams will be in action travelling to Listowel for a twin bill. The difference on the scoreboard in Thursday's 9-7 South Huron win over their perennial arch rivals from Goderich Was a second quarter field goal by Paul 13rooks from 20 yards out. The only South Huron touch- down of the afternoon came late in the first half when Ken Pinder carried the ball over from the Goderich 14 yard line to give the Panthers a 9-0 lead at the half- time rest. Goderich came back with a converted touchdown in the fourth period but the Panthers were able to hold .on to preserve the victory by two points. Commenting on the game, South Huron coach Ron Bogart said, "It was an exceptionally hard hitting defensive battle as it always is ,against Goderich," The local coach continued, "I believe we won the first half and they took the second so the dif- ference was the field goal. The Sassenachs continue to hold a four point lead at the top of the standings in the Exeter Legion mixed dart league with 19 points.
