Safest way to hold the steering
wheel, say experts, is to use
both hands-one at ten
o'clock, the other at two.
Keep tires correctly inflated.
Soft tires increase rolling
resistance, cost you plenty in
wasted fuel.

If brake lining shows more
wear at one end than the
other, the brake shoe is dis-
torted.

Notice a slight seepage from
the water pump vent hole?
Not to worry. It's a normal
condition.

Planning a trip? Plan a
thorough going-over for your
car before you leave.
Otherwise, problems may not
show up until you've covered
many miles of hot-weather
driving, taking you far away
from mechanics you know and
trust.

each on the receiving end of three
passes from Van Gerwen and
Steve Knight was on the end of
the other successful pass.'
Total offensive gains by the two
clubs were exactly the same. The
Panthers gained 92 yards on the
ground and 113 yards through the
air for a total of 205 while
Goderich reached, the same
figure on 116 yards rushing and 89
by way of forward passes.
Ken Pinder led the Panthers
defensive corps with 10 key
tackles while Paul Brooks and Al
Lovell were close behind with
eight and six, respectively.
Pete Kincaid was alert to
recover two Goderich fumbles
and John Van Gerwen was
credited with one recovery.
Individual awards for the top
players of the game were not
made, Instead the entire of-
fensive and defensive squads
were named as the best players
of the game.
The South Huron District High
School senior football club scored
their second straight victory of,
the young Huron-Perth Con-
ference season Thursday with a
close 9,7 decision over the
Goderich Vikings,
In the junior half of, the
doubleheader against Goderich
which was played on the South
Huron athletic field, the Vikings
scored a lopsided 39-0 win.
This week the senior Panthers
are idle while their junior
counterparts will play host to
Wingham this afternoon,
Thursday at 2 p.m. at the local
high school field.
The followjng Thursday,
October 14, both South Huron
teams will be in action travelling
to Listowel for a twin bill.

scoreboard in Thursday's 9-7
South Huron win over their
perennial arch rivals from
Goderich Was a second quarter
field goal by Paul 13rooks from 20
yards out.
The only South Huron touch-
down of the afternoon came late
in the first half when Ken Pinder
carried the ball over from the
Goderich 14 yard line to give the
Panthers a 9-0 lead at the half-
time rest.
Goderich came back with a
converted touchdown in the
fourth period but the Panthers
were able to hold .on to preserve
the victory by two points.
Commenting on the game,
South Huron coach Ron Bogart
said, "It was an exceptionally
hard hitting defensive battle as it
always is ,against Goderich,"
The local coach continued, "I
believe we won the first half and
they took the second so the dif-
ference was the field goal. Our
defence played well and the of-
fence seemed to come up with the
big play when we needed it."
Doug McIsaac was the top
rusher for the Panthers gaining
.45 yards in 14 attempts atrthe line
