A well attended meeting of the
Evening Exeter United Church
Women was held October 4, when
Mrs. Glen Fisher, unit leader
welcomed everyone including our
guests, the Sorority Sisters.
Mrs. Winston Shapton in-
troduced the film, "Service to
Patients" regarding Cancer.
First a woman must be assured
that she can carry on a normal
life after having a mastectomy.
Services to cancer patients
include Mastectomy Visiting,
Housekeeping, Transportation,
Dressings, certain financial help
for pain relieving drugs, activity
programme and home and
hospital visiting.
Mrs, Shapton told of the ser-
vices being provided in Exeter.
Old flannelette sheets are used in
making bandages, Anyone
having these could take them to
Mrs, Glenn at the Senior Citizens
Home.
The next film called
"Decision" showed the proper
way of breast self-examination
and should be done monthly.
Cancer of the uterus is also very
common and a Pap test should be
taken at your regular Doctor
checkup. Dr. Steciuck of Exeter
answered many questions posed
by the ladies.
Mrs. Robt, Fletcher of the
Sorority Chapter thanked the
U.C.W. for having them as

At this time of Thanksgiving, Canadians across
this great country should be thankful for the har-
vest that has once again provided us with more
food than we need for our own demands.
Under the careful husbandry of the farmer, Na-
ture's soil with the blessing of rain and sunshine
has produced a bountiful harvest that sees each
Canadian farmer providing enough food for nearly
50 fellow countrymen.
This year's harvest is a tribute to the Canadian
farmer who must plant his seed`in future anticipa-
tion of harvest and risk the vagrancies of nature
throughout the growing season that might cause
total loss through wind, hail, drought, disease and
pest destruction.
In a land of plenty where there is enough for
everyone, let us remember at this time of
Thanksgiving those who are less fortunate than
ourselves, and also those who have made this
bounty possible through their toil and understand-
ing of the land and its production capabilities—the
Canadian farmers.

gether where they could ex-
change ideas and information.
Merhories of earlier rallies were
brought to light as well as some
thoughts for the future. Mrs.
Johns believes the world does
not owe any of us a living but
each must make their own.
Individually we can not do much

things. There is unity in streng-
th and service.
