Convention at London Friday and Saturday. at Trinity Lutheran Church and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School. The theme was "Saints Arise" and $14,000 was approved for a number of projects. 4-H Meeting Dashwood Club 'No. 3, "The Shredded T'Wheats" held their first meeting of the fall project, "The Cereal Shelf" Tuesday, September 21 at the leader's home Mrs. Maxine Miller. Fourteen members were present, The leaders are Mrs. Maxine Miller and Mrs. Marjorie Green. Officers elected are president, Karen Ducharme; vice- president, Cathy Becker. Everyone answered the roll call, "A cereal product that I have never eaten but would like to try". Discussion followed on "Cereals for Everyday Eating". Everyone helped in making frypan cookies which were really delicious. Club No, 2 held their first meeting September 27 at Dash- wood. Jim White has moved to Ailsa Craig having sold his home to Fred Gleinik of Wood- ham. Mr. & Mrs, Hugh Davis were Sunday afternoon guests with Mrs. Davis' mother, Mrs. George McFalls and visited with relatives from Clio, Michigan, Mr, & Mrs, Ken Eaton en- tertained the members of the "Sod Busters" ball team and their wives Sunday afternoon. Ken is coach of the team. Mr. & Mrs, Heber Davis visited their cousin, Mrs. Maurice MacDonald Thursday at the home of her son, Mr. & Mrs. Howard MacDonald, Lucan. Plan canvass in Hensall Eric Luther campaign chairman for the C.N.I,B., ad- vises that Hensall and area campaign for funds will be conducted during the month of October. A door to door canvass will be conducted in Hensall and a mailing campaign in the surrounding area, Last year our campaign totalled $1,103, We have seta target of $1,200 this year. Sunday, the Van Massenhoven family visited in Watford with Gus' sister, Mr. & Mrs. Peter Leyten and family. Mrs. Hugh Morenz received word last week of the death of her uncle, William Smith, age 86, of Detroit. He is survived by his wife, the former Mar tha Jackson, who is the last surviving member of a family of 11 children and their parents, who crossed the Atlantic from Ireland in a sailing vessel approximately 90 years ago. Mrs. Smith spent her childhood years near Hensall, before moving to Detroit when she married, Mr. Smith's relatives live in Kitchener. This reporter has been told by family members that the ocean crossing of her ancestors took between six to eight weeks time, By MRS.
