"Meals on Wheels", program in
Grand Bend, Meals will be
delivered Wednesdays at noon.
Those who may avail themselves
of this service are elderly people,
people alone, those recuperating
from illness and any who are
unable to care for themselves.
Cost of meal is $1. if you know
of anyone who might wish to use
this service, please contact any of

Mrs. Rosie Grigg has returned
home after a two week holiday
when she visited several of her
family. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Grigg
of Milverton, David Grigg,
Kitchener, Susan Grigg,
Hamilton and Mr. & Mrs. Alvin
Grigg and Doug.
A cousin get together luncheon
was held last Thursday at the
home of Mrs. Beatrice Eagleson
of Southcott Pines. Those at-
tending were Mrs. Newton
Hayter, Parkhill; Mrs, Edith
Mathers and Mrs. Lillian Lovie,
both of London; Mrs. Ella Cox,
St. Marys; Mrs. Josie Love, Mrs.
Olive Webb and Mrs. Eva
Allister, all of Grand Bend.
Mr. & Mrs, Bill Merkies, of
Haalrlen, Holland, are spending
a three week vacation at his
brother's home, Mr. .& Mrs, John
Merkies and family. This is their
first trip to Canada,
Mr. & Mrs. Walter Fassold,
attended the wedding Saturday at
Stratford of their great nephew,
Paul Ratz, son of Mr. & Mrs. Jack
Ratz, formerly of Shipka, to
Jenine Hutchinson.

prize beef steer at the Western Oair. Shown from the left are Whitney

Church groups busy
Ladies hear of recent trips
The first fall meeting of the
Catholic Women's league was
held Monday evening at the
Alhambra hall. Mrs. Tom
Vlemmix, president, presided.
It was announced that the
Deanery meeting will be held
October 6 at Corunna.
Two Grand Bend Lionettes
ladies, Mrs. Sharon- Soldan and
Mrs. Pat Kading, spoke to the
ladies about meals on wheels.
Twenty-two ladies attended this
first meeting.
The travelling prize was
donated by Mrs. Angie Backx and
won by Mrs. Mary Mom-
mersteeg.
Special anthem at the United
church, Sunday morning was
"My Father's Love," by Edna C.
Lovelace, with Miss Idella Gabel
at the organ. Rev. H. Moore's
sermon topic was "Secret
Sources of Strength",
Rev. Aubrey Bell, of St. Johns
by the Lake Anglican Church
returned after a two week
vacation spent in the Tobermory
area. During his holiday period
Rev. Bill Craven, of Goderich
suppled for the church services.
Church of God young people
took charge of the first part of the
service Sunday evening. Special
music included a solo "What the
world needs now" by Kathy
Steckle and a duet by Lori and
Colleen McGregor entitled
"Whosoever will may come".
The general meeting of United
Church ladies was held Tuesday
evening in the S.S. rooms of the
church with 21 in attendance,
President, Mrs. Joan Eagleson
opened with a poem "Put my
worries to work".
During the business it was
announced that anniversary
Sunday would be November 7 and
the annual fowl supper on
November 10.
Special speaker at the South
Huron Regional to be held in
Hensall, October 6, will be Jim
Somerville from Compassion.
Mrs, Willis Gill conducted the
worship service with the theme
"Fruit bearing".
Mrs. Bertie Keyes was in
charge of program, and she had
Mrs. Art Webb, and Mrs. Ed Gill
speak on their recent trips to the
British Isles. The Ten Com-
mandments for Travellers was
read.
Mrs. Marie McKinnon en-
tertained by playing her guitar
and singing "Adele" and
"Dedication" and then everyone
joined her in singing `,`What a
friend we have in Jesus"; ' •
Lunch hostesses were Mrs. Jim
Love, Mrs. George Latta and
Mrs. Allan Walper.

Toin Artes of a Se, 'Clair
Michigan was the Top points man
in the C.S.D.R.A. Sanctioned
Drag races held at Hully Gully,
Sunday. Artes, won both the 440
and Open Super Mod Classes to
vault himself into the lead for the
Kool Kup.
With only seven meets left he
holds a slim margin over Peter
Nieuwenhuizen of Watford.
