This being the last article I
think I am going to compose for
the Fords, I am going to depart
from describing events at the
game but also add a few coin-
rnents of deserved praise.
The Fords at the Canners Field
won their last league game of the
season Saturday against
Walkerton 8-1. Top scorer for the
game was Doug brooks with four
and he was followed by Henry
Winters, Steve Wells and Phil De
Haan with one goal apiece.
Walkerton also in trying to
clear the ball in a goal mouth
skirmish deflected the ball into
their own net, During the dying
minutes of the game the Fords
gave away a penalty shot. Chris
Mittelholtz ;was alone on the line
as Colin Von Hatton scored from
the twelve yard mark.
Praise goes to many players
and the final statistics are as
follows 22 goals for Doug Hoff-
man; 11, Doug Brooks, plus
sevent shutouts in goal; nine,
Henry Winters and Chris Mit-
telholtz who also had two
shutouts; seven, Phil De Haan;
five, Jack Smits and Jeff Fuller;
four John Mickle, Richard Helm;
three, Doug Willard, Wayne
Parsons; two, Wayne Smith,
Steve Wells; one, Marj Ritchie,
Brad Scott and Doug Robbins.
Our overall goals for and
against record for the season,
including league and friendly
games was 90 goals for and 28
against. The best ever for an
under 14 team. Many thanks are
due to these boys.
The parents were outstanding,

Arkona May be returning after
apparently pulling out. Ted Cahill
has taken over management of
the club and they will be in if they
can find ice time. That's the only
problem at the moment,
League president John Ansley
says he is very pleased with the
composition of the league this
year. He added, "We will be
stressing team management this
year. A league is only as good as
the teams taking part."
The Goderich team headed by
former Zurich hockey performer
Paul Corriveau will be playing
their home games at the
Vanastra arena.
Ansley reports another league
meeting to draw up the schedule
will be held within the next two
weeks.
Other team representatives are
The South Huron intermediate
hockey league will be back in
operation this year with eight
teams entered and the possibility
of a ninth team was confirmed by
league president John Ansley,
Wednesday morning.
Five clubs are definitely
returning from last year. They
are the Zurich Flyers, Huron
Park Marauders, Centralia
College Saints, Shipka Colonials
and the North Middlesex Mer-
chants from Parkhill, last year's
league champs.
Hen.sall, a charter member of
the league a few years ago will be
back along with new entries from
Goderich and Watford.
Missing from a year ago will be
the Exeter Mohawks. The ninth
possible team is from Arkona
who are now expected to be back.
Ansley told the T-A Wednesday
