Mervyn Tiernan, president, presided for the business, Group 1 with Charles Martene convener was in charge of the program, Mary Ann Desjardine played the guitar and sang, Harry Hartleib spoke on "Rocks", He showed slides and had a fine display, U,C.W. Meeting The Literature and Com- munications group with Mrs. Don Gaiser chairlady was in charge of the September meeting of Calvary United church women and the theme for the evening was "Show Jesus Your Hands". The scripture reading was read by Mrs. E.R. Guenther, Meditation for the worship was taken by the group, Prayer by Mrs. Don Gaiser. The men were guests as Rev. and Mrs. Bruce Pierce of Creditors, guest speakers showed pictures of the West where they were ministering prior to coming to Crediton, They shared a display of arts and crafts and eir warm atmosphere was ii ijoyed by all. They were anked by Mrs. Clayton Merner. Mrs. Mervyn Tieman, president, dealt with the business. T-A photo 4-H Club meets Personals Mr. & Mrs. Hubert Miller and family attended the Douglas- Ford wedding in Arthur, Friday. Miss Vicki Miller was guest soloist at her cousin's wedding. Others attending were the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Hilton Ford, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Ford, Mr. & Mrs. Bob Forrester, Zurich, and Mr, & Mrs. Russ Broderick and Mrs. Almira Ford, Exeter. Twelve join Staffa church Mr. & Mrs. Syd Baker spent last week with Wendy and Michelle Webb, London. Mrs. Vernon Schatz and her mother of Garden City, Michigan spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Schatz. Mr. & Mrs. Aaron Restemayer accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Keller spent 10 days at Inverlocky fishing. The fishing was very slow but on the last day Aaron cuaght a 15 pound, 39 inch pike, Mr, and Mrs. Irvin Rader returned home Saturday after spending a week there. The weather was beautiful, the scenery wonderful and the fishing fair, Mrs, Amelia Willert is a patient in South Huron hospital, Exeter; Doug Mason returned home Sunday from the same hospital; Bob Hoffman has returned home from University Hospital. Fuheral service was held Saturday, September 18 for local centenarian Mrs. Susan Merner, at Zion Lutheran church. She was an honourary member of Zion Lutheran Ladies' Aid. Pall bearers were six grandsons, Chuck Bartliff, Bob Reschke, Ron Merrier, George and Russel Tieman and Robert Merner. Funeral service was held Monday, September 20, for Jim Neilson at Zion Lutheran church. Pali bearers were Jim and Jack Guenther, Michael Fleet, Dean Oestreicher, Gilbert Dow and Gordon Weigand. Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers, Sparta, spent a few days with her sister, Mrs. Verda Moulton, and they both attended the Trillium Button Club, Mount Elgin. Mrs. Hilda Rader has returned home following a visit in London and Dorchester with members of her family. Miss Pearl Kraft returned home after spending a week in London with Mr. & Mrs. Art Haugh. Mr. & Mrs. Walter Fassold, Grand Bend, and Mrs. Verde Catt, Manitoba, called on Miss Pearl Kraft, Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Rader were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rader, Heather and Alan and Mr. & Mrs. Jim Lynn, Woodham. The occasion marked a birthday for Glen and a first anniversary for Jim and Darlene Lynn. PROMOTED — George W. Mitchell, a former member of the Exeter OPP has been promoted to Sergeant Major and transferred to No. 1 district headquarters at Chatham. He was more recently head of the Forest detachment. A discussion was held on dinnerware, silverware, formal and informal meals. Meeting three was held at the home of Mrs. George Vivian on Saturday, September 18 with eight girls answering the roll call — the type,of reference file I have chosen. The house guest was the topic matter and Mrs, Vivian discussed entertaining a guest, Personals Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Russell Taylor on the birth of their baby girl. Car strikes tree damage extensive Damage was listed at $3,000 when a car driven by an Exeter man struck a tree in Southcott Pines on September 12, The vehicle was driven by James Allen Webb, 346 William Street, Exeter. A passenger in the vehicle, Bradley Millson, London, sustained minor injuries and was treated at South Huron Hospital. Pinery OPP Constable F.S. Hubert investigated. On September 14 vehicles driven by Buelah Evelyn Holt, Grand Bend, and Winnifred Leggate, R.R. 8, Watford, collided on the main street in Grand Bend. Total damage was listed at $125 by Constable Hubert. Ladies entertain at Biddulph Ay Mrs. M. H. Personals ' Hensall 441 Club 3 will hold their postponed first meeting at the home of Miss Cheryl Riley on Nelson street on Tuesday, September 28 at '1 p.m. A special Children's Day service was held at Hensall United Church on Sunday when the Rev. Wilena Brown of Blue- vale conducted the service. The Junior Choir sang "Why me, Lord" and "Lord, I Want To Be A Christian" accom- panied at the piano by Brenda Pepper. The theme of the service was "Who is Jesus?" and Jesus was presented as a Leader, as a man of anger, a man of sorrow and a man of laughter. Bible readings were read by Lisa Hamather, Vicki Mann and Steve Sararas. Pray- er was led by Sunday School Superintendent, Mr. Bill Row- cliffe. Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobal visited the latter's brother, Mr. Anthony Gelderland in Ridge- town last Thursday. On Sunday, accompanied by Mrs. J.M.
