Representatives of the 159 teachers and the school board met Wednesday and agreed to comply with the board's ruling. The contract, for the 1976-7/ school year, has been'modified to provide a 7.85 per cent increase. Jack Lane, superintendent of business for the board, said anti- inflation guidelines calling for a base eight per cent maximum increase this year allow an ad- ditional two per cent to ac- commodate historical relationships between other similar groups and recent set- tlements. He said the board and teachers had submitted a joint brief to the AIB arguing for the extra two per cent for the teachers but the AIB rejected it. Pay penalty for impaired Only two cases were heard by Judge Glenn Hays in Exeter court, Tuesday, both of. them, being for impaired driving. Glenn Vernon Noble, Kit- chener, was fined $250 and had his licence suspended for six months. It was his second of- fence. Harry Hoffman, who was driving an ambulance toward Exeter on May 27 spotted Noble's erratic driving and called police on his radio. Constable Al Quinn was dispatched from the Exeter OPP office and another officer was dispatched from Grand Bend. They observed Noble travelling north on Highway 21 and stopped his vehicle. A part bottle of whiskey was found on the front seat of the car and the driver was unsteady on his feet, smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred. The other impaired driver was Harry Albiston, Hibbert Town- ship, who was fined $200 and had his licence suspended for three months. He was charged after OPP Constable Don Mason observed his car proceeding in an erractic manner on Highway 4 north of Exeter on March 1. The Albiston car travelled onto the shoulder of the road and across the centre line periodically while the officer was following. The officer told the court that the accused staggered slightly and swayed when standing still. + + + Council decided at the con- clusion of Monday's meeting to deny a building permit for a residence planned by Gregus Construction on William Street North, It was noted from a map that a portion of the structure would be on an area that had been built-up with fill and Was actually on the flood plain area. "I would say that is right," building inspector Doug Triebner replied. + 4 + Council will probably enter into an agreement with the new Exeter Animal Hospital for pound services. Councillor Lossy Fuller said members of her committee had recently met with Dr, Gary Balsdon and Monday night he sent a letter outlining his fees for keeping stray animals, While the $4 daily irates for large dogs and $3 for small dogs and cats were slightly higher than the fees set in 1973 with the Kirkton Veterinary Clinic, council members noted they would still be "money in pocket" due to the difference in mileage and labor rates between driving to Kirkton and the south end of Exeter, 10 LBS CHICKEN 6 LBS WIENERS 6 LBS LINK SAUSAGE 6 LBS PORK RIBLETS 10 WS THRIFTY BACON 10 LBS MINCED BEEF 10 LBS CHUCK ROAST - 10 LBS STEW BEEF 68 LBS OF GOOD EATING BREASTS & .
