They decided to meet once a month and next meeting is September 24. Nursery school during the church service hour begins September 19 and volunteers are asked to help. Couples. Club. The couples club met Saturday evening in the S.S. rooms of the United Church with 14 attending, Rev. & Mrs. H. Moore con- ducted the worship service on the theme "Your life is showing". They all brought a baby picture of themselves and had a guessing contest to identify each one. Each couple brought their wedding picture and told when and Where they were married. During the social time they played bingo, The social and hostess com- mittee were Gerry and Brenda Love, Elsie and Leroy Keyes and Ealine and Harley Moore. Church News The Church of God ladies held their September meeting at the home of Mrs. Myrtle Tetreau with 10 attending, Roll Call was answered by members bringing paper items for church use. Worship service was given by Mrs. Millie Desjardine and the theme was education, when she read poems about education, Mrs. Janet Desjardine spoke on the topic, also on education. History and information were given on the Alberta Bible Institute. The Church of God Youth Fellowship members, attended a meeting Friday evening, as in- vited guests of the Free Methodist young people at Goderich.. A young people's group, from S.S. rooms. President, Eleanor Dude, opened by reading a poem "Beautiful garden". Roll call was answered by your favourite scent. The ladies were reminded to bring in layette articles. It was announced that $180 was realized from, the bake and produce sale in August. Upcoming events are the Regional to be held in Hensall on October 6, also the Thanksgiving ecumencial to be hosted by the United Church. The U.C.W. are to have the birthday party for patients at the Bluewater Rest Home in Sep- tember. Joan Eagleson conducted the worship service with piano assistance by Elaine Moore. Mrs. Becker was chairlady for the program. A trip to Exe- ter Canning Factory had to be postponed so the ladies played Garden Bingo with products from members gardens as prizes. Senior Citizens The Senior Citizens of Dash- wood and area will hold their first meeting for the fall season Monday, September 20 at 8 p.m. in the community centre. Guest speaker will be Mr. Harry Hartleib of London & Dashwood who will speak on "Rocks". Mr. Hartleib is a rock hound and will show a collection of jewellery which he has made out of rocks, He will also show slides of places where he has found these rocks such as the Grand Canyon. MisS Mary Ann Desjardine of Dashwood will provide music. All senior citizens are welcome, Calvary United Church Sunday School commences this Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Decoration Service at Calvary United Goshen Line Cemetery will be held this Sunday at 2:30 Lutheran ladies Pastor Mellecke was trilled upon and he answered quest- ions from the ladies regarding his former charges and his family. On Mrs. Becker thanked all who had helped at the parsonage and the pot luck supper. Twenty family members of Mrs. Susie Devine„ met Sunday, at Dashwood Community Centre for a family picnic. Sports and games were enjoyed in the social time. The Grand Bend Women's Institute will be holding their first meeting of the fall season, Thursday at the home of Mrs. Nola Taylor, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a pot luck luncheon, Roll call is to be answered by a verse from an old school book, Mrs. June Anderson of Dart- mouth, Nova Scotia, visited last week at her father's home, Mr. & Mrs. Roy Morenz, and other relatives and friends in the area. Sports The Grand Bend squirts ball team played their final game of the series of the best three out of five games. • • • Grand Bend won by a score of 15 to 6 over Lieury, This was three games for Grand Bend and one for Lieury. Dean Courtney scored a home run and Dean Watts had two triples and drove in six runs. Pitcher Dean Courtney had six strikeouts in this final game, The squirts lost only one game this season and won the trophy donated by McGillivray township and it is on display at the bank of Montreal:in Grand Bend.
