The Exeter team has one female member Marj Ritchie. The Exeter Royals and Lucan Irish are all tied up in their best- of-five Southwestern Fastball Association semi-final series. The fifth and deciding game will be played tonight, Thursday in Lucan with game time set for 9 p.m. The Irish forced the deciding game by posting a 10-5 in Exeter Tuesday night after winning 7-4 Sunday night. The Royals won 4-2 in Lucan Thursday to take a two game lead in the series. Rusty Smith blasted a grand slam home run in the third inning Tuesday night to provide the Irish with most of their scoring power. Barry Baynham also homered for Exeter. Sunday night the Lucan Irish came to Exeter and staved off elimination with a come from behind 7-4 victory. Lucan opened the scoring in the top of the first as Gerry Finkbeiner singled and scored on Dennis Cartys sngle. The Royals then banged out five hits and scored four runs in the bottom of the third. Jim "Eli" Pfaff led things off with a single, Brian Hodgins doubled, Barry' Baynham singled and Jack Glover doubled. The final hit of the inning being Doug Pearsons single. The Irish went to work in the top of the fifth as Gerry Fink- beiner singled, Dennis Carty walked, Brian Lightfoot singled and Gerry Duskocy tripled to chase in four runs. The Irish added two more in the seventh as Kevin Lightfoot reached first on an error and Gerry Duskocy, Dennis Burt and Rusty Smith all singled. Brian Lightfoot went the distance for Lucan striking out eight and allowing six hits. Brian Hodgins started for the Royals and took the loss. He was relieved by Gord Mayer in the fifth inning. Thursday night the Exeter Royals travelled to Lucan and beat the Irish 4-2 to take a two game lead in the best of five semi-final. Lucan opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as Dennis Burt led off with a single and Dennis Carty's single scored him. The Royals got that run back in the top of the second as Dong Pearson singled and scored as Gord Mauer drove him in. The. Royals added two more runs in the top of the third as Bill Farquhar singled and scored as Jack Glover hit a long home run to right centre field. The Exeter The Crediton juveniles are currently tied with Woodslee in the first round of playoffs in the Western Ontario Athletic Association.. In the first game of the best-of- three series played in Dashwood Saturday, Creditor, won by a score of 11-6, Saturday in Woodslee the home team won by a score of 12-4 to force a third and deciding game, The sudden-death game will be played in Dashwood Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The winner of this game will be on their home field Sunday afternoon to meet Hagersville in the next round with the second game set for Hagersville Monday, Labour Day. In Woodslee, Sunday, Crediton scored two runs in the top of the first inning but their lead was short lived as the home team came back with three runs and were never headed. Paul Shapton was safe on an error and Tom Hayter singled in the Crediton first and both came around to score. In the fourth, Matt Muller was safe on an error and scored on a single from the bat of Paul Shapton and in the fifth Mike Desjardine walked and scored without the aid of a hit to com- plete the Crediton scoring. Paul Brooks was the Crediton starting pitcher. He needed relief help from Doug Mclsaac in the later innings. In Dashwood, Saturday, the Crediton club scored two runs in each of the second and third innings and broke out with a four run outburst in the fifth to head for the victory. Singles by Mike Desjardine and Doug Mclsaac produced the opening Crediton scores in the second. In the third, Paul Shapton and Brian Taylor crossed the plate without the help of any hits, Five Woodslee fielding miscues • helped the Crediton four run rally in the fifth. The only hit was single by Jim Gregns.
