Approval of plans for renovations and additions to the recently condemned Lucan arena is expected to come as the result of a meeting being held tonight, Thursday. The Lucan arena board will be presenting plans to a joint meeting of councils of the village of Lucan and the townships of Biddulph, McGillivray and Lon- don. Fund raising chairman Larry Hotson told the T-A Tuesday morning,. "We hope to get the necessary approvals, Thursday. The Lucan council will have to call for tenders for construction and for demolition of the present structure. They own the proper- ty, so, they call the shots." Seniors at Playhouse Members and friends of the Lucan Senior Citizens clubs attended the Huron County Playhouse production "Charlie's Aunt", Wednesday afternoon, enjoying the hilarious comedy, and also dinner following at the Dashwood Hotel. While the club room has been open all summer, regular ac- tivities in both the Sunshine Group and the Busy Buddies craft group will recommence on Thursday, September 2. All seniors of the community are in- vited and will receive a warm welcome. The New Horizon grant to enlarge facilities in the Masonic Hall has been approved, and work will commence this Fall. Arena board members hope construction of new walls and roof over the ice surface can be completed in time for the fall hockey season. Hotson said canvassers have been out in recent weeks soliciting donations. He com- mented, "I have no idea how Last Saturday's corn roast at Branch 540 was such an overwhelming success, it was decided to hold another Saturday night' in the Lounge and as you may have guessed entertainment will be supplied. The same day at 11 p.m. a vehi- cle driven by Gail Rae, London left the roadway at the intersec- tion of Middlesex road 26 and the Biddulph-Blanshard townline and struck a fence and stop sign. Constable W. R. Disher listed damages at $950. Three vehicles were involved in a mishap Saturday at 12:05 a.m. at the junction of the Hyde Park road and Highway 22, The vehicles involved were driven by Edward Lipski, St. Thomas; Mabel McChesney, Arkona and Randy Gerhold, Strathroy. Constable J. A. Wilson estimated damages at $1,250. Gerald Davis, RR 3 Ilderton was taken to 'University Hospital, London by Lucan Am- bulance Service following an ac- cident Friday at 7:50 p.m. The vehicle Davis was driving left Concession 12 of London township, a quarter mile west of Cameron sideroad and rolled over, A younger brother Ralph Davis suffered ctits and bruises but die not require hospitalization. Constable D. R.- Vance set damages at $3,000. A vehicle driven , by Marius Vanderminden, Granton was damaged to the extent of $150 when it was struck by a transport truck owned by Cronyn Transport, Dublin.
