Congratulations to Rev. & Mrs, Nelson Ernst on celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary, By PAM SALMON MT. CARMEL. Two important events took place in the gymnasium of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School on Thursday, August 19, and while one was indeed a happy event,. the other evoked a feeling of sadness from those in atten- dance. The spirit of joy was alive as a large number of women attend- ed a shower held for Mary Regier, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Leo Regier of Mt. Carmel, who will marry Ken Allen, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Allen, on Saturday, August 28 in Lon- don. Ken's parents and two of his brothers have come from their home in Staffordshire, England, to attend the wedding. While Mary received many gifts, which will surely be put to good use as she and Ken begin married life in London, another person also received a gift, but it was a farewell gift exchanged in sadness. On behalf of residents of our village and of the surrounding area, Mrs. Rita Carey presented a monetary gift to Mrs. Mary Trainor who has moved to Lon- don after having been a resident of Mt. Carmel for 17 years. I speak for everyone in the area in wishing Mrs. Trainor a very fond, farewell and much happiness in her new surroun- dings. I am sure Mrs. Trainor would welcome any letters from her friends in our area, and her new address is 202 McNay Street, London. If I mentioned an event called the Salmon Reunion, most people would think I was talking about a large gathering of fish in a near- by stream. But actual humans, including this reporter, took part in the two-day event held in Zurich over this past weekend, at the residence of Norm Salmon, my father's brother. Athough the Salmon clan has become very localized in this area, with families from Mt. Carmel, Dashwood, Exeter, Nairn and Zurich present, others came from as far away as St. George, London, Ottawa, and even Vancouver. The travellers from Ottawa, Les and Ruth Salmon, enjoyed some real' Mt. Carmel hospitality as they were our guests during A husband is a man who ex- pects his wife to be perfect and to understand why he isn't. W aka AVAILABLE AT i C'OUN'TRY CORNE MT.
