those under 20 -are supposed to
have too harsh a reaction from the
scrum.
Just so people realize what
they maybe up against, this flu
is supposed to spread very quick-
ly. The last time it struck, in a
10-day period in London, Eng-
land, 10,000 people took sick, And
that's spreading pretty fast.
In a little over a quarter century, Dashwood has become

Talking about a swine flu
epidemic might sound silly now,
but it is better to be prepared
than panic, Dr. Wallace brought
this idea up at the Zurich council
meeting Thursday night, asking
council if they had given any
thought .as to what they would do
if the epidemic does strike.,
"It will be at least a month
before the vaccine is available
for innoculation and will probably
be longer than that." says Dr.
Wallace. Obviously, the local
hospital would be quickly filled
up and it might be a good idea
to look at alternative facilities
now, just in case."

Mr. & Mrs. Arie Roobol have
been visiting their friends and
relatives around the district. On
Thursday, they went to Wood-
stock and visited with Mr. & Mrs.
John Konyendyk and while there
unexpectedly met with friends
from their own home town in
Holland. On Sunday Mr. & Mrs.
Arie Roobol and Mr. & Mrs. Don
Dodds of Seaforth and family
visited the Goderich Huron
County Pioneer Museum and
drove around Ben Miller and
countryside. Later, accompanied
by Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol, they
went to Ridgetown and drove
around Rondeau Park and stayed
overnight with Mr. Anthony
Gelderland. On Saturday they
'Visited with Mr. & Mrs. Case
Van Don Ileuvol.
Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Payne visited
with Mr. & Mrs. Carl Payne and
Mrs. Gary Merritt and Gregory
on Sunday.
Hensa II Livestock Sales
Supply consisted mainly
heifers and steers, demand was
active and .prices were higher.
Fat cattle; heifers, $35.00-$40.00
tops to $42.25; steers $37.75-
$41.80, top to $42.25. Pigs;
weanlings' $34.00-$46.00, chunks
$50.00-$55.00.
It would be impossible for any
local doctor to make house calls
to the extent that would be
required if the flu did hit in
epidemic proportions,
Dr. Wallace shggested writing
to the Emergency Ambulance
service to see if one of their
mobile hospitals could possibly
be available in case of such an
emergency but did not express
much hope Zurich would be able
to get one,
Reeve Fred Haberer suggested
the Health Unit should be con-
tacted to see what help they
would be willing td give. How-
ever, Dr, Wallace felt if some-
thing did happen the Health
Unit would- likely be inundated
with requests and, would prob-
ably only be able to handle
about 25% of them.
"No, we'll likely have to 104
after ourselves in the case of
any emergency situation," said
Dr. Wallace.
Councillor George Haggitt sug-
gested "volunteer beds" could be
asked for and the arena could be
the first used for beds once
the hospital was filled. Reeve
Haberer added the bedding could
perhaps be obtained in the same
manner. If there was overflow
from the arena, the school audi-
toriums would be the next
best place to fill.
Dr. Wallace said he saw no
reason to panic as there would
be some warning if an epidemic
was on its way unless the flu
begins in Zurich which is highly
unlikely. However, he felt it
would be a good idea to be
aware of what might happen
so there would be no panic if
the situation did occur. '
Council asked Dr. Wallace why
those between 50 and 65 years of
age and those under 20 were not
to be innoculated. Dr. Wallace
seemed rather skeptical about the
official reasons given for these
exceptions. Those between 50
and 65 years of age are supposed
to be immune, (however, if you
count back to 1918, the last time
this flu struck, you will soon
realize that was more than 50
years ago so it would seem
highly unlikely they could be
immune through that) while

Dashwood's famous Millenium wood windows are sealed totallyand permanently in a solid, rigid sheath of white,
ageless vinyl. So they never need painting, and they require a minimum of maintenance to keep them looking like
, .indefinite . .
Dashwood windows are available in a wide range of
sizes and styles, in six basic configurations:

repellant preservative which penetrates deep into the wood for maximum
protection against moisture and decay. You get a window or gliding door
which will Keep its be'auty for a longer period of time.

Insulating Glass
Dashwood insulating glass uses two panes of hermetically sealed glass
to put a still, dry blanket of air between you and the weather! It means
only two surfaces to clean - and no storm windows! In place of putty -
wood windows feature a special wood stop used with a flexible caulking
- MILLENIUM uses a glazing bead with flexible vinyl seal. They're easier
to remove and replace, too! These up-to-the-minute glazing systems
reduce heat loss (which saves you money), misting, frosting and con-
densation. Winter or summer, Dashwood insulating glass
keeps the weather in its place!
