FRED BOWDEN cENTRALIA Decorations were arranged to make an attractive setting for the shower in the schoolroom of the United Church on Tuesday evening honouring Margaret Haist on her approaching marriage. Mrs. Elmer Powe welcomed the guests. Numbers on the program were a piano solo by Mary Lou Tasko; a clarinet solo by Nancy Tindal]; vocal solo by Elaine Powe with Mrs. Ray Mills playing the piano ac- companiment. The contest conducted by Mrs. Harvey Smith created fun and laughter with the bride to he as the winner. An address was read by Mrs. Harvey Smith and gifts were presented by Ruth Ann Essery and Jean Buswell, Mrs. Ray Mills and Elaine Powe assisted in displaying the gifts. Margaret expressed her ap- preciation for the gifts; to those taking part on the program and to the ladies who arranged the shower. Margaret Wilson was in charge of the guest book. By MRS. HAROLD DAVIS KIRKTON Mrs. Wilbert Kirkby returned home after being a patient in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital this past week. Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Waghorn were guests in Ainherstburg, Saturday at the wedding of Miss Bernice Reurnink, daughter of Mr. & Mrs, Bill Reurnink formerly of Kirkton. Mr. & Mrs, Leslie Fairbairn of London visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Miller McCurdy and Mr. & Mrs. Harold Davis. Mrs. John Hanniman and family of Renfrew are visiting with Mrs. George Hall and Mrs. J. McCormick. Mr. & Mrs. Sidney Pearson, Steven and friend of Galt-Cambridge were visitors last week. Rev. Allan Duffield of Peter- borough passed away in his 82nd year; he was born in Kirkton, his father barbered in Kirkton for several years. TEMPLEMAN The executive of the Perth South District Women's Institute met recently at the home of the president, Mrs. Carter Kerslake. Plans were made for the Fall Rally at Alma Community Center October 21, the area convention ,at Tillsonburg Nov. 9 & 10 and the District executive and officers banquet at St. Marys Nov. 22. Staffa Women's Institute members, their husbands and friends attended the "Anne of Green Gables" production at the Huron Country Playhouse Friday evening. Paul Mahon had the misfortune to fracture his collar bone this past week while helping load cattle. Nancy Scott, Barbara Tern- pleman and Shirley Miller were all guests of Kathy McKellar, on Friday evening. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Butson and boys are on a motor trip to the east coast. Wanda and Michelle Martyn, Russeldale spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. John Templeman and family. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Cross, Murray London spent the Weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Miller. Jane Burleigh, Goderich spent the weekend with her cousin Jill Norris. Mr. & Mrs. David Kemp and Christine, Clinton visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Bob Norris and family. At time of writing Nelson Dow is a patient in Stratford General Hospital. Mrs. Spencer Jeffery and Mrs. George Vivian attended training school in Mitchell this week for the fall homemaking course "The club girl entertains." Visiting with Mrs. Jim .Cross and Murray recently were Miss Verda Otts, Mrs, Hunt, Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Mary Miller, Mitchell. Visiting Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Miller and Mr. & Mrs. Jim Cross and Murray were, Mr. & Mrs. Jack White, London, Mrs. Ted Pooley and Mrs. Lloyd Cush- man, Exeter and Mr. & Mrs. George Mitchell, Dublin. The residents of Huronview enjoyed an hour of old tyme music ,in the Normal Care sitting room, Monday afternoon provided by Elsie Henderson and Normal Speir. Eight residents travelling by cars provided by members of the staff and volunteers attended the Clinton Drive-In Theatre on Family Night. Many thanks to Lorne Brown, manager of the Theatre, for the complimentary tickets and to those who provided cars. Ten residents attended the afternoon matinee of Anne of Green Gables at the Huron Country Playhouse Grand Bend, Wednesday and all report a fine performance. By MRS. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Hirtzel returned home last week after holidaying at Wiarton and Fisherman's Cove.
