Carmel • people busy By PAUL SALMON ML Cartnel's community spirit was very evident at Dashwood's Friedsburg Days festival held this past Friday and Saturday. The Mt. Carmel senior girls baseball team, coached by Irene and Helen McCann, entered afloat 'e the Friedsburg parade with the theme of "Casey at the Bat" and the great enthusiasm of the girls prompted the judge to give the Service Award to the girls for their float. The whole team participated in decorating the float, which was supplied by Don Dietrich. It should be mentioned here that the team, which is sponsored by the Dashwood Hotel, has a very impressive record with only one loss so far this season. Mt, Carmel was also represented at the Friedsburg festival by the Catholic Women's League, who operated a booth which sold scrumptious home- made pies. Again the in- volvement in the project was very enthusiastic and there was no problem in recruiting pies or ladies to sell them, It is estimated that between ninety and one hundred pies were sold during the festival.
