Hern passed away suddenly at his residence in Erin, Ontario, on Thursday, July 22, 1976, beloved husband of Lois (Ford) in his 58th year. Dear father of Mrs. Donald Wright (Shirley) of . Stratford, Graham Hern of Guelph and Jahice Hern of Erin. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren and four brothers, Ward Hern and Jack Hern, both of Exeter, Philip Hern of Usborne township and Earl Hern of London, The funeral was held Saturday' from the Hopper- Hockey Funeral Home, Exeter. Rev. Jack Gillop officiated. Interment in Exeter Cemetery. A short business meeting was held with Norm Stanlake presiding and he warmly welcomed all present for the Thom- son reunion A minute's silence was held in respectful memory of two older members, Robert Thomson, Kippen, and Wellington Good, Blyth, who had passed on during the past year. A letter of greetings "to the Thomson cousins" from 41eanar Fisher and Hazel Chavice of Winnipeg was read following the minutes of the last meeting by secretary Mary Parsons. Hannah Miller gave a report of the progress made with the history of the Thomson's and asked for any suggestions after being shown the sample of the beginning. She and her helpers have done well in the research and are looking forward to next year. During the afternoon Audrey Vorstenbosch supervised a series of games and races. The winners were as follows: three-legged race, Gwen O'Rourke and David O'Rourke; balloon throwing, Geof and Dorothy Chase; somersaulting, 10 years and under, Bert Vorstenbosch, Geof Chase; 15 years and under, Joan Vorstenbosch, Gail O'Rourke. They each scored two wins with an aggregate of 40. Mabel McKnight was next in line with a plus of 30. Following in order were Charles Hendy, Anna Ballantyne, Russ Snell and Edith Love, Winning the Thursday jitney was Wellington Brock on the strength of a pair of wins, a plus of 19 and 31 aggregate. Mabel Skinner was in the runner-up spot with a plus of 12 and aggregate of 28. Next came Art Parkin With a 10 plus and 29 aggregate. Completing the prize list were Gertrude Hamilton, Bill Rogerson, Olive Hicks, Wilfred Shapton and Marguerite Orr.
