If the unsettled weather we are
recently experiencing, with its
persistent thunder storms and
bouts of cool temperatures, make
us feel that this is not really
summer, the travelling that is
being done to and from our area
proves without a doubt that this is
indeed the vacation season.
Ted and Mese Graham of RR 8
Parkhill bade farewell to Mese's
parents, Harry and Ann Bervoets
of Holland, on Tuesday, July 27.
The Dutch couple had stayed with
the Grahams for six weeks and
very much enjoyed Canadian
hospitality.
On Thursday, Mark and Brad
Darling, sons of Mr. and Mrs.
Don Darling, travelled to Wind-
sor where they will be visiting
relatives. Mark will be visiting
with his grandparents, Ann and
Ernie Fields and with his
mother's cousin, Gary Curtis,
while Brad will be spending time
with the family of his mother's
aunt, Frances Brooks, and with
the family of his mother's sister,
Terry-Lou Masse.
On July 18, George Ryan, the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Ryan of Mt. Carmel, took a plane
to Courtenay, British Columbia,
to spend two weeks with his
sister, Nancy, and her husband Don Ferguson, Courtenay is on
Vancouver Island and is about
three hours drive from. Victoria.

visited Wednesday with Gordon

with Mr. & Mrs, Jack Trevithick
were Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Walper
Jr. and their daughter, Gabriel,
left for week-long stay at their
cottage which is situated on Lake
McKenzie in Northern Ontario.
They were accompanied by Mr.
Jeromkin 's parents, Mr. and
Mrs, Nick Jeromkin Sr., and by
other relatives.

Mr. & Mrs. Jim Morley and
Kathleen visited Saturday with
Mrs. Violet Allison a patient in
Victoria Hospital,
Cindy Prest participated in the
Academy Music Festival held at
Sarnia and was awarded first
prize in the Senior 'C' division,
Students of R. F. Kettle, Parkhill
won several prizes and also two
of his bands were awarded
prizes. 13-C division, Jeff Allison,
was awarded first prize,
Dale Fenton of Belgrave is
visiting with Mr. & Mrs. George
Prest and Cindy for a week.
Michael O'Rourke, son ,of Mrs.
Dennis O'Rourke of Exeter, and
his wife Phyllis, and their two
children have just returned to
Peace River, Alberta, after
spending about two weeks with
Mrs. O'Rourke and other
relatives from our area, This is
the first time in ten years that
Michael has been home.
One of the ushers at the wed-
ding of Jane Glavin and Anthony
Lansbergen was also from
Alberta, He was Gerard Glavin,
the son of Joe and Martina
Glavin. Gerard, from Calgary,
will be visiting in our area for
about two weeks.
On Sunday, Rosemary Shannon
Thompson, the daughter of Mr,
and Mrs, Vincent Thompson, was
baptised and welcomed as a
member of the Parish at Our
Lady of Mr. Carmel Church.
A farmer, buying a doll for his
little girl's Christmas present,
was told by the saleslady:
"Here's a lovely doll, you lay
her down and she closes her eyes,
just like a real little girl."
Said the sadly experienced
father: "I guess, lady, you've
never had a real little girl."

Sunday afternoon a shower was
held at the home of Mrs, Ed
Hendrick to honor Margaret
Haist, August bride-elect.
Pamela Hendrick, Wyoming,
gave a reading, Sheila Brierley,
Kitchener, conducted a contest
based on TV commercials, and
Mrs. Lawrence Amos, Exeter,
supervised the opening of a
mystery parcel.
Sheila, Elaine Powe and her
sister, Mrs, Brittain, assisted
Margaret in opening the gifts
which were presented by Julie
and Cathy Hendrick and Tammy
Haist. Doris Schwartz secretly
recorded the guest of honor's
remarks as she opened the gifts,
These caused much merriment
when read aloud later. Mrs. Don
Hendrick and Pamela, Mrs.
Howard Hendrick, Mrs. Amos,
and Sheila Brierley held Mrs. Ed
Hendrick to serve the guests.
Personals
Mr. & Mrs. Dave McClure and
family have returned from a trip
to Verdun, Manitoba. They
visited Mrs. McClure's mother
there and attended the Leckie
reunion at Foxwarren.
Mr. & Mrs. Fred Bell, Florida,

Hendrick. Mrs. Bell is Ed's
sister.
