Preparations are being com-
pleted for the sixth annual
Friedsburg Days which will be
held in Dashwood Friday and
Saturday of this week.
The entire community has
banded together to produce
entertainment and food foi the
expected large crowds. Several
new attractions have been added
to an already well developed
program,
Several work nights have been
held to line up the food. About 30
were at Merner's Meat Market on
Monday, July 19 to prepare the
main appetite satisfiers.
About 1,000 pounds of sausage
were manufactured, cooked and
then put into freezers. Hugh
Boyle and Doug Riddell were the
sausage makers while Jean Ford
was in charge of cooking more
than 800 pounds of sauerkraut.
One change in the format this
year will be the fact all activities
will take place at the Community
Centre and pavilion grounds. In
other years sporting events were
staged at the athletic field.
The food and refreshment tents
and booths will be open from 5
p.m. to midnight on Friday and
from noon to midnight on
Saturday.
The main attractions Friday
night will be a talent show and
selection of Miss Friedsburg.
A new event, a soap box derby
will start Saturday's action away
a 10:30 a,m, Racing will take
place on the hill south of Dash-
wood near the farm of Earl
Stebbins. Anyone wishing to
enter the derby should contact
Herb Piper.
Judging of parade entries will
begin at 1 p.m. Saturday with the
actual parade leaving the athletic
field an hour later.
Arm wrestling preliminaries
will start at 3.30 p.m. with tug-of-
war going at 4 p.m. Also at 4, a
pet show will be held. Emphasis
in the pet show will be put on
novelty entrants with prizes for
longest ears, hair, etc.
The sports finals will continue
at 7 p.m. and a dance will follow
at 9 p.m.
Sports director Jack Ford is
anxious to receive more entries
for the tug-of-war in both the
senior and pee wee divisions.
Ford is looking for local entries.
He asks anyone in Exeter,
