combined event
The combined Church Service
was held at Hensall United
Church again last Sunday with
Rev, Don Beck in charge and
preaching on "Love can be
difficult", Love must be able to
help others with truly concerned
criticism. Music was supplied
by Mrs. John Turkheim at the
organ and the Pepper sisters,
Laurie, Marilyn and Joanne
sang "Mountain on the Hilltop"
accompanied at the piano by
Brenda. The flowers were from
the funeral of the late Thomas
Smale placed by his family.
Next Sunday will be the last of
the services at the United Church
until the last S'unday in August,

Mrs. Harry Horton who was a
patient in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter returned to her home on
Friday.
Mr, Mrs, Dave Kyle returned
home from a pleasant holiday in
Hawaii.
Mr. &Mrs. Clarence Wrath and
Mrs. Bertha Cook of Belgrave
visited on, Sunday with Mrs.
Pearl Shaddick.
Mr. & Mrs. James Sangster
and Brad returned home from a
vacation at Tobermory.
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick returned
home after visiting with her
cousin Mrs. Bert Wiggins in
Brantford. Mrs. Wiggins ac-
companied Mrs. Shaddick home
and spent the weekend with her:
Funeral service for the late
Thomas Smale was conducted by
Rev. D. Beck at the Bonthron
Funeral Home, Friday. The
pallbearers were Harvey Keyes,
Garnet Allan, John Chappel, Don
Dixon, Wes Lenting and Bill Bell.
Interment in McTaggart's
Cemetery,
Mrs. Pearl Passmore has re-
turned from spending a week with
her daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Felix Boogemans,
in Pike Bay.
Mr. and Mrs. John Skea and
David have been spending the
last three weeks camping at Mat-
tawa and had a very pleasant
holiday.
Derek Robinson has returned
from spending a week with his
grandfather Mr. McLellan, in
Denfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gittus,
of Rochester, Minnesota, visited
with the former's mother, Mrs.
Gertrude Gittus in Hensall last
week.
Mrs. Joe Ferguson is a patient
in South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert Johns of
Exeter were recent visitors with
Mr. & Mrs. Rodger Venner,
Mr. & Mrs. Terry- Gregson of
Guelph spent the weekend with
the latter's parents Mr. & Mrs.
Hugh McEwen.

A very enjoyable afternoon was
Spent when 204 Senior Citizens
Of Zone 8 Huron County met at
Clan Gregor Square in Bayfield
on Sunday afternoon, July 18,
for a picnic, Quests were present
from Bayfield, 131yth, Clinton,
Dashwood, Exeter, Goderich,
Hensall, Seaforth and Zurich.
President, Mrs. Mary Greg,
brought greetings from all the
Clubs in the area. A smorgas
bord supper was served and en-
joyed by all and following this a
Variety concert was presented,
each club supplying one number
. On Saturday, July 10, a beauti-
ful summers day, members of
the Smillie-Elder Clan met at
Seaforth Lion's Park for their 37th
annual reunion, A smorgasborg
supper h the pavilion, convened
by Mrs. Lorraine Peck, was
the highlight of the event.
During the afternoon, swimming,
a baligame, little tots having
fun in the wading pool, and a
series of games and contests was
enthusiastically carried out by
the Geiger family. In looking

who delighted their listeners by
playing the bagpipes and drum
together. Master of Ceremonies
for the concert was Mr. Harry
Baker of Bayfield. The evening
concluded by watching the
sunset over Lake Huron, then all
returned home.

year. Mrs. Ken Elder was
elected president, and Mrs. Ray

Prizes were awarded and a very
special gift from Honorary Presid-
ent Dr. Jennie Smillie Robert-
son, who -is now residing in a
nursing home in Toronto, was
announced by the Secretary.
These were engraved coffee
spoons, which were given as
prizes for several different items:
to Mrs. Grace Johnston, Mrs.
Betty Brooks, Mrs Janet Smillie,
Miss Nancy Score, Mrs. Lynn
Peck, Mrs, Helen Howe, Mrs.
Donna Draper, Mrs. Elva Peck,
Mrs. Olive Smillie and Mrs.
Grace Peck.
Members present from distant
places included Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Howe of Tuscon, Arizona,
Mrs. Erling Lund of Glenshaw,
Pensylvania, Mrs. Emmilt Brooks
and son, Stephen, of Las Cruces,
New Mexico. John Elder of
Waterloo University reported
that his parents, Mr. and Mrs,
Lorne Elder were in Rome for a
week, while on their way to
Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Jack and Lorraine Peck hosted a
gathering of relatives at their
home west of Kippen on Sunday.

holds reunion
The fifth Munn reunion was
held Saturday at Lions' Park,
Seaforth with over 100 in at-
tendance from Hensall, Exeter,
Kippen, London, Brantford,
Stoney Creek, Listowel,
Strathroy, Ottawa, Hobokin, N.J.
Sarnia and Hayfield.
Races were held for the adults
and children. Boys' and girls' 3 to
5 Sheila Bender. 6 to 8, Michelle
Wharry, 9 to 13 Jeff Sangster. 14
and over Rob, Lavery. Ladies'

Nominations were held for the
The playground program in the
town of Hensall began this week
with some 40 children enrolled.
The program this year will run
for three .alternating weeks on
Monday, Wednesday and Thurs
day of those weeks from 2:00 till
4:00 p.nt, ,The children will
occupy their time making. arts
and crafts and doing regular
playground activities. But there
is a special trip to the Grand Bend
Zoo slated for the kids.
The Hensall swimming lessons
which are in progress, continue,
with the first session nearly com-
pleted. The swimming program,
which is three weeks long per
session, has three sessions ached-
uled this summer, the first one
having 52 kids registered, while
the second and third have 32
and 15 respectively.

1 Ontario Centre Music League
Festival held at the University of
Guelph over the weekend.
Sharon, aged 11 was chosen
from a class of 21 contestants and
won the adjudicators' award in
