SIDLE SCHOOL BEGINS,—The first two weeks in July saw many
churches in the area hold Bible School oiasaes for young children.
Bible Soho& in Zurich was held In two places, and one place was

guests of Mr. & Mrs. Lorne

Gary Urquhart and Gerald
Weersink returned home Friday
evening after being on a 4-H bus
trip to Iowa, U.S.A. for a few
days. They toured John Deere
plants, dairy, beef and hog farms
in the Waterloo area also.

Watch for Janet Gielen when
the Olympic torch is being
carried from Cornwall to Mon-
treal July 17, She is one of the
runners chosen and will carry the
torch for one mile,
Mrs. Don Finkbeiner and
Valerie, Mrs. Harry Gielen, Mrs.
Hugo Schenk, Mrs, Della Sims,
Nola Faist, Ella Morlock, Doris
Schwartz and Mrs. Cliff Kenney
joined the Centralia UCW on their
tour of Sarnia, Wednesday.
Thursday evening a shower
was held in the Zion United
Church Sunday School rooms to
honor Linda Haugh, bride of this
month, Mrs, Reg Finkbeiner
directed the prograrq, read the
address and conducted a contest.

numbers with Mrs, Ed Fink-
beiner accompanying her. Fran

day, July 26 and later a reception

celebrations at Ilderton on
Saturday, July 10, also the
Orange Parade in St. Marys the

reception and dance for Mr. &
Mrs. Stuart McLellan in the
Community Centre at Kirkton
Friday night. Mr. & Mrs.
McLellan were celebrating their
25th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Gordon Johnson and Mary
held a shower at their home for
their niece and cousin Miss
Sandra Glassford, Toronto,
Saturday night.

Cancer can
be beaten

GRANTON
Sympathy is extended to the
family and friends of Edna
(Grant) Rainey who passed
away after a short illness, in the
McMaster Medical Centre,
Hamilton, on Tuesday, July 6 in
her 88th year.
Mrs, Rainey was the former
Annie Edna Grant and a descen-
dant of the Grant brothers who
were among the first settlers of
Granton village as early as 1842.
She was predeceased by her
husband, Robert Rainey and is
survived by two nephews and
their families, Joseph Grant,
Toronto: and Bruce Grant, Mon-
treal.
Bruce and his family are
former residents of Granton. A
private funeral service was held
Thursday, July 8, at the C.
Haskett & Son Funeral Home,
Lucan, with Rev. Mary McInally
officiating, followed by crema-
tion.
Mrs. Rainey who was in failing
health was taken to a nursing
home in Hamilton about a month ilk ago, to be near her great-neice

morning worship and took her
sermon from the scripture lesson

Horizons",
We need to widen our views of
race, country and religion said
the minister and sacrifice some
of our luxuries in order that peo-
ple in other lands may have the
bare necessities of life. Jesus
came to widen our Horizons and
break down barriers and teach us
His lesson of love!
Summer school for public
school children, including those
who will be starting
kindergarten in September will
be held from July 26 to 30.
Registration will take place at
the church on opening day.
The Treble Clef's choir from
Simcoe, will provide the music
for the service on Sunday, July
18.
